About this deal

Rainbow Beach is located in the Gympie Region of Queensland, between the Fraser Coast and The Sunshine Coast. It lies just above the Great Sandy National Park and just below Fraser Island. There are also some available in the Great Sandy National Park but you will need a 4wd to access these. Additionally a camping permit must be obtained. How To Obtain A Rainbow Beach Beach Permit & Camping Permit? These coloured sands at Rainbow Beach are all natural and there are so many different colours due to the iron-rich materials and vegetable dyes that have stained the sand over thousands of years. Transform your garden or patio with the medley of natural colours and tones found within our Rainbow Indian sandstone. This choice of garden paving offers the charm and appeal that only natural sandstone paving can offer. With beautiful variations in colour throughout, each paver features its own unique tones formed naturally over thousands of years, promising your garden or patio a finish filled with character!

Cooloola Great Walk is a nature hike, complete with stairs. It takes 10-15 minutes to get to the top where there is a wooden structure with a view of the sand dunes.DIY Rainbow Vases– there is something magical in a homemade gift and add a rainbow of colours and you are on to a winner. Rainbow Beach is a lovely little beachside town in QLD, Australia, full of so many great things to do! There are actually 72 different shades of these colours in the sand, so it’s like ‘earthy’ rainbow shades, not actual rainbow colours of blues, pinks, purples etc! Of course, one kid immediately followed me, and the other started climbing the hill behind us. Rainbow Candle Holders –as these use nail varnish they are for older tweens, teens and even adults. It’s generally advised to seal sandstone paving to help prevent staining, as well as helping to prevent the growth of any moss or algae. You may want to consider sealing your slabs if your stone is light in colour, as any stains will be more visible, but sealing is not compulsory and there are plenty of options that will provide various results! Some sealants will simply seal and protect, whereas others can even be used to enhance the colour of your slabs. Sealing Kandla Grey Sandstone will also help to protect against other general wear such as fading which can sometimes occur over long periods. As for when to apply a sealer, there are no specific guidelines and most landscapers will have their own tried and tested methods. Some people choose to seal their paving before laying to prevent any staining during the laying process and others prefer to leave their stone unsealed for up to a year, allowing the sandstone to weather naturally first. To find out what is best for you, we always advise speaking to a local tradesperson who will be able to assess the needs of your project. You can find out more about Sealing Paving Slabs on our blog!Driving at the wrong time can be disastrous, and many people have got bogged or even had their 4wds wash out to sea if they have been here when it’s not low tide, so always assess the environment and drive slowly! Here at the Carlo Sand Blow is actually the starting point for the Cooloola Great Walk – the 155km trek from Rainbow Beach to Noosa! If you’re a keen walker and are up for multi-day hikes then this is definitely worth doing. Rainbow Melted Crayon Art– A brilliant process art activity for older children that makes a beautiful canvas

The orange, purple and buff tones within the Indian sandstone will liven up any space with stunning veining and swirling details that give the stone its bold finish. You are only allowed to drive on certain parts of the island (mainly just the east side – no hire cars are allowed on the western side of Fraser Island as too many kept ending up in the sea as tourists weren’t familiar with the tide times and cars would wash out to sea!).Those with a 4wd can drive across to the headland known as Double Island Point and visit the lighthouse, where you’ll be rewarded with stunning views. Why not split your sand up and make lots of different colors! You can make one for every color of the rainbow! To access the beach on 4wd you’ll need to drive down Griffin Esplanade, where you can then turn right and drive on the beach past the Coloured Sands towards Double Island Point.

The abundance of iron in this relatively high latitude, but subtropical-type delta is ultimately responsible both the for bright colours of the ferruginous sands, and also for the pyrite from which Alum Bay (indirectly) takes its name. Can you walk down to Alum Bay? Rainbow Beach is absolutely worth visiting and is truly a hidden gem! The scenery is truly breathtaking, with the stunningly coloured sand dunes making this place so special and unique.

Rainbow Sandstone Paving will create an eye-catching finish to any garden or patio with its striking range of colours.
