About this deal

Skull & Crossbones – Base Zandri Dust, wash with Seraphim Sepia, layer with Ushabti Bone and highlight with Screaming Skull. Step 9- Weathering That sounds like a bunch of steps, but really it’s very easy or a hobby idiot like me couldn’t do it. I could then move on to the remainder of my airbrush work on his armor. I feel like Helbrecht doesn’t quite have the traditional gold that I’d paint my custodes, Sanguinius, or Sanguinary guard with, instead having more of a brass color. I used Scale 75 Victorian Brass as a fitting basecoat, and decided the paint has enough sheen and there are plenty of crevices for a wash to shade so I didn’t need an airbrushed highlight.

Because the cork will be soaking up some of the pressure you’re applying, you probably won’t get your green stuff perfectly smooth and even - again, this is fine. You can see in the second picture below that mine even has a big indentation with a clear thumbprint. It doesn’t matter! The detail that we’re going to add, plus the paint job, will make it barely noticeable. Start highlighting the majority of the armour in Citadel Mournfang Brown. This is where the process becomes a bit repetitive and this step is the most time consuming because you’re painting most of the model but being careful about leaving the previous stage showing at the bottom parts of the armour panel. Different Disclaimer** Don’t do what Beanith did and don’t glue on her headpiece until after you’ve painted the model. Sub assembly here is your friend. Add in a little more Mephiston Red and layer up again, concentrating on raised areas where light would hitFor Caracalla, my shield captain here, it is very important to note that I painted the cape separately, and glued it on after I was done. This entire process is a huge pain in the butt otherwise. The head was also painted separately.

Mix in a little more Warboss Green and layer up again, concentrating on raised areas where light would hit http://www.ttfxmedia.com/vallejo/cgi-bin/_modelis_info.asp?p1=ing&p2=modelcolor&p3=1#modelcolorinfo As I mentioned, this is a fantastic horde base. It doesn’t require any real crafting or planning, and can easily be done in batches. If you don’t like how one particular base turned out, don’t throw it away. Go ahead and use it, and try different paint/wash/drybrush ratios on the next base. Once they are sitting next to 50+ other models with similar bases, they all blend together and any imperfections are entirely lost.At this point I could start painting by hand, generally working from the inside out. These are the recipes I used for the various different areas. Unless otherwise noted, my washes cover the entire basecoat area, and highlights are all edges. Brass Armor
