About this deal

Flash 1 gives 100 lumens which is enough to get you noticed in an urban environment at night, with a 400-lumen Flash 2 to get you noticed in the daylight. The battery will last 125hrs for Flash 1 and 220hrs for Flash 2 – its flash pattern means that the LED isn't on as much as Flash 1.

In addition to the 1000 lumen Boost mode, there are two more steady modes – 700 lumens and 100 lumens – plus three flashing, one of which is a daylight flash. There's also an SOS mode, which is designated for emergencies only. But it's also, in the general vicinity of the comet where the heaviest concentrations of meteoroids are as well. In contrast, at the point in the comet's orbit where we will be passing by on Saturday morning, there's only a scattering of particles; bits of comet debris that crumbled off the comet's frozen nucleus perhaps a millennia or two ago. My favourite setting is the daytime flash, which puts out 700 lumens in a slow rhythm. I actually used this at night, along with my regular main light (a Light&Motion Imjin 800); the setting might be called Day Flash, but I found it really useful for getting that extra bit of attention from drivers on narrower lanes. Emma’s first encounters with a road bike were in between swimming and running. Soon after competing for GB in the World Age Group Triathlon Championships in Edmonton in 2001 she saw the light and decided to focus on cycling. The battery level can be seen by the LEDs that shine through the button, which also showed whether the light was in automatic mode (green), manual (blue), or running low on power (red). To operate, the Storm took a bit of learning. With many lights you simply switch them on and cycle through the modes. With the Storm you switch it on it and can cycle through five modes, but to switch between steady and flashing you have to hold the power button down for two seconds. To do this it passes through the 'off' setting (a one-second hold), which means you really need to be somewhere lit or stationary if you want to swap on the move. The Moon Meteor-X Auto is an innovative light that brings together strong battery life and a powerful beam at a very reasonable price, but it's not the simplest to operate.

About one in every thousand newly discovered meteorites is a lunar meteorite, [11] whereas the vast majority of meteorites are from the asteroid belt. In the early 19th century most scientists believed that all meteorites falling towards the Earth were from the Moon. Although today supported only by a minority of researchers, there are also theories that tektites are from the Moon and should therefore also be regarded as lunar meteorites. However, most scientists regard such theories as outdated. Obviously, the upside of this tool-free mount is the simplicity of moving it between bikes. There's a helmet mount available separately, should you prefer. From the way it shines, it is highly likely that it is a lunar impact flash,” adds Fujii. Why do Meteorites Impact the Moon? Thankfully, once I'd found the right mode, the light has a memory feature so it turns on in the last one I was using.

The most interesting element of the light is the auto mode. The light can detect the lighting conditions and either turn on or off. I found the light would generally turn on straight away when it detected the dark, and took around 30 seconds to turn itself off. It generally worked well, though I would have liked it to come on sooner, especially during dark mornings. The remote button plugs in underneath and is attached with a Velcro strap. Its lead is 35cm long, which is more than enough for a road bike and should be sufficient for most mountain bike bars too. However, I did find that even when done up as tight as possible the button would slide around the bar, the small rubber pad not enough to keep it in place. I fixed this by using a cable tie in place of the strap. The Moon Meteor-X Auto Pro is a great light for urban commuters or those who find themselves out in the dark every once in a while. It's a robust headlight, which balances light output and battery life smartly for a great price. Currently using the earlier white-only version and it is a good light and i would buy one again for sure. The ability to programme modes would be an added bonus for sure, my one is a scroll through the options version, though at least the flash and steady mode are kept seperate. I have dropped it a good few times and it is still running well. This year's model has had a 200 lumen up-grade over the 2019 version, which should suit those who prefer even dark lanes after work to sitting on an indoor trainer.

I also tested the helmet mount; I don't normally ride with a light on my lid, and this certainly didn't convince me otherwise. The flat plate didn't sit too well on my helmet, and the Velcro strap that you have to feed through the vents never felt too secure. The extra weight also felt odd to me, but if you use a helmet light more regularly you might find it perfectly acceptable. A la modesThe button itself is easy to find, with its grippy rubber sitting proud above the light's shell. Mount-tastic

The highest constant pumps out 300 lumens, which has sufficient navigational bite for short stretches of semi-rural work; the 200-lumen mode is arguably optimal for suburban work, although the 100 might be sufficient through better lit sections, especially if you're looking to conserve juice, and 50 lumens is your bailout. Overall, it's a real belter of a light, although I wasn't surprised by some minor trade-offs. Constant modes Randy Korotev, Randy L. (2005). "Lunar geochemistry as told by lunar meteorites". Meanwhile, if you want to spend less, it's very likely there'll be some compromises, in either output or quality. Overall Overall, the Meteor Storm Dual is a very well thought out light, and the customisation of the outputs is a massive plus. For the money it is very easy to recommend. Verdict Run-times were spot on as advertised, and pretty good too for the size of the light. Running boost mode permanently will kill the battery in an hour, but the modes I used the most, 600-lumen steady and day flash, gave 2 hours and up to 65 hours respectively, more than enough for the riding I do at this time of year. With mixed use I got three days or so from the light before it needed a charge, with that handy LED panel showing the battery level in 20% increments.
