About this deal

Jigglypuff is one of two Pokémon playable in Super Smash Bros. to not be present in the base release of Pokémon Sword and Shield, the other being Greninja. However, Jigglypuff was added as part of The Isle of Armor DLC, while Greninja remained absent from the games even after its updates. Jigglypuff debuted in The Song of Jigglypuff. From this episode through the end of the original series, it followed Ash and his friends, intent on performing its trademark song without causing its audience to fall asleep. It rarely, if ever, succeeded. Jigglypuff would scribble all over the faces of anyone who fell asleep after hearing the song. Pokemon Crystal Version Pokemon of the Day: Wigglytuff (#40)". However, in several Kids' WB promotional spots, Jigglypuff is referred to as a male.

Jigglypuff also made regular cameo appearances throughout the Orange Islands arc, where it tended to lull everyone to sleep with its song. Afterwards, it would always scribble on their faces out of anger. Due to an oversight, Jigglypuff appears purple (instead of pink) in the battle against Gengar in the intro of Pokémon Blue (including the Japanese version). This is a leftover from the earlier Japanese games Pokémon Red and Green, when two purple Pokémon battled instead: Gengar vs. Nidorino (which is also seen in the international versions of Pokémon Red).

When Jigglypuff's big eyes begin to quiver, everyone becomes sleepy as it sings a lullaby. Jigglypuff ( Japanese: プリン Purin) is a dual-type Normal/ Fairy Pokémon introduced in Generation I. Prior to Generation VI, it was a pure Normal-type Pokémon. Known as the Balloon Pokémon, Jigglypuff evolves from Igglybuff when it reaches a certain point of happiness, and evolves into Wigglytuff when exposed to a Moon Stone. Its English name is a combination of the words "jiggly" and "puff", intended to relate to its jelly-like appearance. The character has been featured in a recurring role in the anime series and served as the focus for several printed adaptions of the franchise. Since it appeared in the Pokémon series, Jigglypuff has received generally positive reception. It has been featured in several forms of merchandise, including figurines, plush toys, and the Pokémon Trading Card Game. It also has appeared as a playable character in every entry of the Super Smash Bros. series. It hugely inflates its stomach and sings a mysterious melody. If you hear this melody, you'll become sleepy right away. The Pokédex also provides additional biological info about the Jigglypuff species. After it mesmerizes its foe with its large, round eyes, it sings its lullaby until the foe sleeps, and does not stop to breathe until the foe is fully asleep; it can perform longer with its single breath if it inflates its body with air beforehand. Its vocal chords can freely adjust the wavelength of its voice, and it sings at precisely the right wavelength to make its foes most drowsy. The sound waves of its singing voice match the brain waves of someone in a deep sleep. Nothing can avoid falling asleep after hearing a Jigglypuff's song, but some are more naturally resistant to the effects than others and take much longer to sleep. This effectively endangers a singing Jigglypuff's life if its opponent takes a long time to fall asleep, as it cannot breathe until they do. In Performing with Fiery Charm!, Gena's Jigglypuff judged the baking during the Theme Performance of the Dendemille Showcase Rookie Class. Jigglypuff and Ganondorf are the only characters to rank dead last on the current tier lists for multiple games. The NTSC and European tier lists for Brawl and the Ultimate tier list place Ganondorf dead last, while the Japanese tier list for Brawl and the Smash 4 tier list place Jigglypuff dead last. Right before the opening theme song (before the title card in the Japanese version) when Ash is holding Chikorita, Pikachu's voice is heard but his mouth doesn't move. When Chikorita gets hit by Electabuzz's Thunder Punch, Ash catches her and says, "I think I'm a pretty good shortstop". This may be a reference to Casey, who once had a Chikorita (that had since evolved into Bayleef), and whose favorite baseball team was the Electabuzz.
