If there has been no bowel movement after three days of treatment a doctor or healthcare professional should be consulted. (See section 4.4 'Special warnings and precautions for use') If you experience any other symptoms which you think may be due to this medicine, speak with your doctor or pharmacist.

If symptoms persist longer than 3 days, the patient should consult a doctor or healthcare professional. Sometimes it may take a few days before you feel the full benefit from a bulk-forming laxative such as ispaghula husk. However, if after several days you do not feel that your symptoms are improving, or if they become any worse, you should speak with a doctor. Insulin - if you are diabetic and use insulin, you may need to reduce your dose of insulin if you take Fybogel Orange with meals. These can be signs of a serious allergic reaction and may need immediate treatment in hospital. Long-term side effectsyou're breathing very fast or struggling to breathe (you may become very wheezy or feel like you're choking or gasping for air) Children aged 6 to 12 years: Take half to one level 5 ml spoonful depending on size and age, morning and evening, preferably after meals. A severe electrolyte imbalance can cause serious health problems, such as muscle spasm and twitching, and or even cause a seizure or fit. Other side effects Each dose of Fybogel granules must be stirred into a glass containing at least 150ml water. Drink it all as soon as the fizzing dies down and all the granules have dissolved.

The product should be taken during the day at least ½ to 1 hour before or after intake of other medicines and should not be taken immediately before going to sleep. Abdominal distension and risk of intestinal or oesophageal obstruction and faecal impaction may occur, particularly if swallowed with insufficient fluid.
