About this deal

Something I enjoy is painting. I have taken quite a few art classes and find it very creative to work with paint and charcoal and images instead of words, though somehow I can't help adding bits of poetry and scraps of words into my paintings, too… When I was at school, I was completely obsessed by the Pre-Raphaelites, and I love the way their art is so intertwined with poetry and stories. My best friend is an artist and she is incredibly inspiring to me. Gallery [ ] Main article: Horrid Henry's Holiday/Gallery Transcript [ ] Main article: Transcript:Horrid Henry's Holiday Video [ ]

I can't imagine getting through a day without reading or writing. I know it sounds a complete cliche, but there it is. I go to a writers' workshop once a week to meet other writers and exchange ideas and read work in progress, and that is hugely important to me. And every spare minute of the time at home I am reading, reading, reading…What would we do without stories? This is the fourth episode to focus on the parents, the third being " Horrid Henry and the Dinner Guests", the second being " Horrid Henry Goes to Work", and first being " Horrid Henry’s Hike". Horrid Henry: I thought holiday were supposed to be fun for everybody. Nature, huh? EUREKA! THAT'S IT! They want to be close to nature, then they're going to be close to nature! I hate cooking but love the idea of being a good cook and welcoming all my friends and family to delicious meals. So I have lots of beautiful cookery books but I never get past the first couple of recipes. Every so often I get madly enthusiastic all over again, but it doesn't last. Henry goes to the woods to collect the firewood, but is spooked by a bird and trips over a tree root. Henry comes running out of the woods and trips again, this time over a tent peg belonging to the French Camper's tent. He realises that there is plenty of wood right there and takes pegs from the tent and one from the washing line. The washing line collapses again and this time though, the French Camper is having a campfire. A pair of the French Camper's underpants that were on the line land in the fire. Frantically, he takes out the underpants and stamps out the flames, but is left with a hole burnt in them.He died on April 15th, 1927, two years after his wife Kate (who did embroidery work for the William Morris Company). Gillian Shields was born and brought up in Yorkshire, in the north of England. As she grew up, she had two passions:books and theater. Gillian’s love of books led her to read English at St. Catharine's College, Cambridge. After university she studied acting in London. She then taught in a drama school, the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts, for several years, becoming Vice Principal. She recently taught English and Drama at Beechwood Sacred Heart, a girls’ boarding school. In the book, Dad attempts to cook baked beans on the campfire, but is stopped by the rain. In the episode, they eat toasted marshmallows on the fire.

Holiday had been a socialist throughout his life and, together with his wife Kate and daughter Winifred, supported the Suffragette movement. The family were close acquaintances of Myra Sadd Brown and Emmeline Pankhurst and her daughter, and had organised local suffragette meetings in the Lake District. Between 1912 and 1919 he painted the apse of the east end of St Benedict's Church at Small Heath, Birmingham, depicting Christ in Glory with angels, and saints in arcading, below, in Byzantine style. [19] In the book, the family are huddled inside the tent when Dad suggests going for a walk. In the episode, the family are outside playing cards when Peter suggests going for a walk. This episode is the second time both Mum and Dad react to Henry transforming into a dinosaur, the first being a gorilla in " Horrid Henry's Hideo Video".

On a more self-indulgent note, I love to get to the theater whenever I can, and to the ballet, which I adore. In another fantasy life I would definitely be a ballerina! Cohen, Morton N. & Wakeling, Edward. Lewis Carroll and his illustrators (Macmillan, London, 2003) pp.22–27. In 1861, Holiday accepted the position of stained glass window designer for Powell's Glass Works, after Burne-Jones had left to work for Morris & Co. During his time there he fulfilled over 300 commissions, mostly for customers in the United States. He left in 1891 to set up his own glass works in Hampstead, producing stained glass, mosaics, enamels and sacerdotal objects. Mum hums to Frere Jacques and Henry opens the gate to let the sheep and Mum tried to shoo them away] In the episode, Henry goes into the woods to collect firewood, but gets spooked and runs out. In the book, he doesn't go because he thinks the forest will be muddy and wet. When Henry lets the sheep out of the field, many more sheep leave it than there were first in it the moment Henry opens the gate.

I also enjoy being in the city—although I wouldn't want to live there all the time, it's fun to go window shopping or to big new exhibitions or shows, or just hang out in a coffee shop with a cappuccino and a notebook and watch the busy world go by. Dad: We're not staying there, Henry. We're having a real camping holiday; close to the joys of nature!
