About this deal

Dr. Chopra states that much of his time is spent talking, trying to get people not to be so convinced by their disease. In Ayurveda, this is the first and foremost step in healing. "Meditation is so important because it leads the mind to a free zone that is not touched by disease. Until you know that such a place exists, your disease will seem to be taking over completely. This is the principal delusion that needs to be shattered." Science is simply a system of applied logic to investigate anything. It's not some a club with biases towards atheism or anti-spirituality or whatever else. Quantum healing moves away from external, high technology methods toward the deepest core of the mind-body system. This core is where healing begins.” Chopra’s medical training is in internal medicine and endocrinology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. Dr. Chopra serves as Co-Founder and Chairman of The Chopra Center for Wellbeing, Founder of The Chopra Well on YouTube, Adjunct Professor of Executive Programs at Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, Adjunct Professor at Columbia Business School, Columbia University, Assistant Clinical Professor, in the Family and Preventive Medicine Department at the University of California, San Diego, Health Sciences, Faculty at Walt Disney Imagineering, and Senior Scientist with The Gallup Organization.

Chopra includes numerous case studies of patients who were diagnosed with terminal cancer and given 2 months to live, and yet were completely cured after pursuing alternative therapies such as Transcendental Meditation. Admittedly, this was encouraging to me. I figure that if someone can help their body get rid of aggressive lung or brain cancer, I could certainly help my body get rid of plantar fasciitis! It is empowering to consider that the key to our individual health lies within us, and is very much under our control, should we choose to learn how to control it. Deepak Chopra, MD serves as the Founder and Chairman of The Chopra Foundation, and Co-Founder of the Chopra Center for Wellbeing.

As mentioned at the beginning, it is a very small percentage of people that is capable of dipping deep into the core of the mind-body system. It takes time to train your brain to drop old habits and gain new ones. Therefore, Deepak Chopra encourages a fusion of conventional and traditional medicines. Here is an extraordinary new approach to healing by an extraordinary physician-writer — a book filled with the mystery, wonder, and hope of people who have experienced seemingly miraculous recoveries from cancer and other serious illnesses. Chopra gives examples of some of his own patients who were able to improve their health, or even return to a complete healthy state simply because they had decided they would get better. They changed their mood, their attitude. Pessimism, of course, had no part in this. (Optimism is a healer. Pessimism can be a killer.) Their mind had created antibodies, energized the system so it could fight better. Everyone’s body knows how to heal a cut, yet apparently only a few people have bodies that know how to cure cancer.”

How advanced the cancer is seems not to matter, either. Both tiny tumors and extremely large masses of malignancy can disappear, virtually overnight.” Deepak Chopra coined the term "quantum healing" when he published the first edition of his book with that title in 1989. [2] [3] His discussions of quantum healing have been characterised as technobabble - "incoherent babbling strewn with scientific terms" [4] which drives those who actually understand physics "crazy" [5] and as "redefining Wrong". [6]Ayurveda means “the knowledge for long life” in Sanskrit. Because it combines science and philosophy / spirituality, the approach is holistic. Chopra insists that the universe is not a force that surrounds us. Not only is there a whole universe within our cellular body, but we are part of the universe, we are the universe. By accepting this fusion —more, embracing it— chances are we will be able to face disease, fight it, and eventually destroy it. Such is the premise of Quantum Healing. I found all of the case studies and research results fascinating. For example, Chopra recounts the results of one experiment in which a group of mice was given a chemical known to stimulate the activity of the immune system. Every time a mouse received a dose of the chemical, the smell of camphor was released. After a few weeks, the smell of camphor alone was enough to stimulate the immune system cells.

I have always been enchanted by Eastern philosophy, and especially when I heard of the Vedic masters who could basically put themselves into comas, buried six feet under for three days, then rise on the third day. The stories told of the ultra-colorful and ultra-sensational world they had occupied for those three days echoed every near-death-experience I had ever read about. I believe this old book, while outdated in some of its "cutting edge" revelations, is still every bit as relevant today. In fact, other books I am currently enjoying--like The Spiritual Anatomy of Emotion by Michael A. Jawer and Marc S. Micozzi, M.D., Ph.D, and The Biology of Belief by Dr. Paul H. Lipton--seem to build on these early ideas as they share further research about DNA (not what they told me it was in grade school!) and epigenetics, neuropeptides, and the quantum level of health and human performance. Deepak Chopra may be commonly known as more of a "woo woo" spiritual author, but he is also a doctor and has years of experience as a practicing endocrinologist, so his foundations are in medical science. Plait, Phil (2009-12-01). "Deepak Chopra: redefining "wrong" ". Slate. ISSN 1091-2339 . Retrieved 2018-05-19. Through a powerful combination of prescriptive exercises and innovative research into the quantum world, the authors unveil seven breakthroughs that will revolutionize the future of everyone’s well-being. Central to this revolution is a groundbreaking understanding of metabolism—the way our cells process energy—that promises to challenge our understanding of modern medicine as we know it. Inspired by the unexplained recovery of patients in his own practice who had been given just a few months to live, Dr. Chopra began his search for answers. After returning to his native India to explore humanity’s most ancient healing tradition, Ayurveda, he combined those insights with Western medicine, neuroscience, and physics. What he discovered—a “network of intelligence” in the human body with the potential to defeat cancer, heart disease, even aging itself—forms the basis of Quantum Healing. In this new edition, Dr. Chopra once again offers a fascinating intellectual journey and a deeply moving chronicle of hope and healing.I can only assume that this has over 4 stars on average because the typical person who seeks this book out is already prone to believing the nonsense within. Another quote: "How does a thought defeat a cancer cell?" Indeed Deepak, how does it? At no point in the book does he answer this question with anything more than a stream of pseudoscientific buzzwords. No tests, no measurements, no trials. Just the word "quantum" again and again and again... This is an extraordinary new approach to healing by an extraordinary physician-writer - a book filled with the mystery, wonder, and hope of people who have experienced seemingly miraculous recoveries from cancer and other serious illnesses. Dr Deepak Chopra, a respected New England endocrinologist, began his search for answers when he saw patients in his own practice who completely recovered after being given only a few months to live. In the mid-1980s he returned to his native India to study Ayurveda, humanity's most ancient healing tradition. Quantum healing has a number of vocal followers, but the scientific community widely regards it as nonsensical. [7] The main criticism revolves around its systematic misinterpretation of modern physics, [8] especially of the fact that macroscopic objects (such as the human body or individual cells) are much too large to exhibit inherently quantum properties like interference and wave function collapse.
