About this deal

As our first step, the Internet Archive is supporting the Library of Congress National Library Service (NLS) for the Blind and Physically Handicapped library program to circulate Braille, audio or DAISY materials to eligible readers. This program is only available to residents of the United States or American citizens living abroad. Get help choosing books from our experienced library team, or get technology or reading advice in your own home from our national team of volunteers. Also comes with a silicone case, rechargeable battery, mains charger, earphones and two USB cables. DAISYtalking books are an older approach to providing audio representations of your module materials with built in navigation and accessibility features, allowing you to listen to text at the same time as viewing it on screen. Our DAISYs are produced automatically within the workflow we currently use as we scan books. They rely on the OCR produced in the scanning process and are therefore susceptible to errors, which may include weird characters, non-words, and guesses at structure where we can't find any. We're thinking about ways to get community input into OCR and book structure error correction. (If you're interested in helping us, or know of good resources in these areas, please let us know.)

Currently, our protected DAISY books can only be opened using a key issued by the Library of Congress NLS program. At present our protected DAISY books can be played on the Victor Reader Stream. This is the simplest solution as it works with the technology you already have and doesn’t require any additional software. It’s suitable for: As the leaves of autumn fall, Daisy Darker arrives at her grandmother’s house for eightieth birthday celebrations. Seaglass, the Darker’s ancestral home, is a crumbling Cornish house perched upon its own tiny private island. What a book! A dysfunctional family meets Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None with a truly gasp-inducing twist. Exceedingly clever, stylish and emotionally astute, your visit to Seaglass is one you won't soon forget. This is the book you've been looking for. Whatever the reason, there are several options available to consider when working with your Open University (OU) module materials. Options for listening to audio versions of module materials

Our Talking Books are available on DAISY CDs that hold around 25 hours of audio, all playable on the DAISY player of your choice. They’re loaded with chapters and sections so that our members can jump around the text at will – giving blind and partially sighted people the same reading opportunities as sighted people. What makes DAISY so useful?

It's short for Digital Accessible Information System, DAISY is now the technical standard for Talking Books. It’s how we transform them from recordings you can play, to books that you can absorb and interrogate. SenusAccess, provided by the OU library, is a system to convert any text into audio MP3 files, or formats such as ePub or Adobe PDF which also have read aloud functionality. Advantages So many nasty secrets. And that's before the bodies start to pile up! I've always been an Alice Feeney fan - but I think she's outdone herself with this startling murderfest!

Clever, sinister, claustrophobic, beguiling and utterly compelling. I was totally hooked from the first sentence. Daisy and the Trouble with... is the perfect step towards chapter book reading for readers ages 5+!DAISY 2, the previous version of the standard, also has full details available within the DAISY 2 sub-menu.
