About this deal

Special thanks to the LEGO Group for providing this set for review 76200 Bro Thor’s New Asgard Set Details

Usually, we can put some of the deviations from a minifigure’s design down to the fact that the designers are working off of concept art ahead of a movie release. Given this set came out two-years after the movie release, however, there isn’t really a good excuse. Less problematic, and a lotmore funny, are these three pizza boxes. “Storm Baker’s Pizza” is a great pun, and the slice of pizza incorporated into the axe is just *chef’s kiss* sweet. The set also comes with a 2×2 round printed pizza tile and four printed pizza slices on 1×1 quarter-circle tiles. (Our review copy had six slices, but the official part count lists only four.)On the walls are hooks, rakes, and a portrait of the Thor Ragnarok crew – Thor in his gladiator helmet, Korg, fully-grown Miek and Valkyrie. With just about 250 pieces to play with, the designer of this set should be honoured for the work of art they’ve created, seriously, the build here is a genuine work of art in terms of minimal piece design detail. The exterior walls aren’t likely to be the focus of anyone’s display, but they still look decent. There aren’t any obvious gaps or cost-cutting measures to be seen. Give kids the best in imaginative play and creative display with LEGO® Marvel Bro Thor’s New Asgard (76200). This multifaceted set lets young super heroes aged 7 and up relive scenes from Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame movie and play out amazing adventures of their own.

Korg first appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Thor: Ragnarok. He’s wearing his Hawaiian print casual outfit with headphones from the Endgame movie. This Korg minifigure in vacation clothes is great. Even without knowing who Korg is, he would be an amusing tourist visiting Earth in any vacation scene you choose. Miek This is going to be one of the most-popular and best-selling Marvel sets of 2021 as it strikes the perfect balance between accessibility due to its size and price, and also the inclusion of fan favourite characters like Korg. In the New Asgard scene, Korg is seen gaming, and is thus equipped with a video game controller, and headphones. The exterior of the home isn’t neglected, either. The door has a small stone stoop with round tile “stones” adding texture. The set doesn’t look like much from the outside, and we’d have to wonder why anyone would display it this way when all the details are on the inside. That said, the messy mix of materials isn’t actually out of place for the buildings in New Asgard. Noobmaster, hey, it’s Thor again. You know, the God of Thunder? Listen, buddy, if you don’t log off this game immediately, I am gonna fly over to your house, come down to that basement you’re hiding in, rip off your arms and shove them up your butt! Oh, that’s right, yes, go cry to your father, you little weasel!” Miek first appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Thor: Ragnarok. Korg introduces Miek to Thor in the movie with, “This is my very good friend Miek. He is an insect and has knives for hands.” Miek appears to be a purple larval insect in Thor: Ragnarok, who wears exoskeleton armor to fight in the Grandmaster’s arena as one of the gladiators. In LEGO form, Miek is a purple printed head with two purple flowers representing his body. As he’s simply a purple lump in the movies without his armor, I’m not sure how to feel about this LEGO version of the character. He’s not shaped like a larva, but the printed head will be very useful for MOC (My own creation) builders to create his exoskeleton armor. The Accessories There’s plenty of pizza here for Bro Thor’s breakfast, lunch, and dinner! LEGO components are dropped, heated, crushed, twisted and analysed to make sure they fulfil rigorous global safety standards. Another small detail that made me smile is that LEGO decided to include some 1×1 transparent yellow plate to represent beer in the floor-mounted keg. While on display it’s unlikely anyone will ever see these plates, so it’s a little Easter egg just for the set builder.

Like any Marvel set, the characters are truly the star of the set, and Bro Thor’s New Asgard comes with 2 exclusive minifigures – Bro Thor, with his beer belly, and the debut of the Korg minifigure which has been a long time coming. Treat Marvel Avengers and Thor fans to imaginative roleplay fun based around Thor’s amazing New Asgard home. These are all simple fixes for any builder to do with some extra pieces. Considering the quantity of the accessories included, I’m happy with the designer’s choice of limiting build parts as opposed to limiting accessories to keep the price reasonable. Behind the ScenesBeneath the sign is a sentence in Norwegian “velkommen til Tønsberg” which means “Welcome to Tønsberg“, a small village located in Norway which housed the Tesseract for decades, and is the location of New Asgard – a new settlement of Asgardians following the destruction of their planet. What do you think we should be commenting on that we are not already? I think accuracy is important for products like this one, so should be discussed." And lastly, there’s also a Welcome to New Asgard sign, which has a polite request to “please drive slowly”. I have to pinch myself that this is not just an actual set, but LEGO also manage to sneak in a keg of beer.

And yes, Thor’s alternate face has his eyes lit up with lightning, because “This is the ideal make body. You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like.” Beginning with Korg, this is my biggest disappointment with the set, in all honesty. Given the character’s size and stature in the cinematic universe, a Big Fig would have made far more sense than the minifigure we get here. It’s not to say I don’t like this minifigure, but it doesn’t represent the movie version of the character very well at all and I don’t think many people would have been able to guess who this is supposed to be had it been part of a different set. Thanks to Marvel fans’ need for the Bro Thor, this Korg variant is better received.

This set straddles between almost a film set, almost a playset, and almost a display diorama. It could be a film set if it had studio lights. Most playsets are playable from both sides, so this could be turned into a playset by adding a roof and more outdoor decorations. It could be a display diorama if the floor were tiled and the walls raised higher, past the indoor decorations. In all honesty, this is a strong contender for one of the best LEGO minifigures of 2021. Bro Thor is absolutely hilarious, and is a great addition to the Marvel Super Heroes lineup.
