For Jeremy and Susan, their new status quo is the ultimate humiliation so they deal with it in an almost pathological way; complete and utter denial. Jeremy still wears his suit and bowler hat, while Susan swans around Bert Jones’s grungy old caravan in her finest dresses and fur coats.

Yus, My Dear is a British sitcom that ran for nineteen episodes over two series in 1976 featuring Arthur Mullard and Queenie Watts in the lead roles. It was written by Ronald Chesney and Ronald Wolfe, and produced and directed by Stuart Allen for London Weekend Television. It was screened by ITV during 1976, and marked an early regular TV appearance of the comedian Mike Reid. Arthur Mullard sang the show's catchy theme tune, which was written and composed by Denis King and Myles Rudge. A sequel to Chesney and Wolfe's earlier series Romany Jones (1972–75), the characters Wally and Lily Briggs (Mullard and Watts) have left their caravan for a new life in a council house. The new series introduced Wally's brother Benny, the first acting role for the EastEnders and Snatch star Mike Reid of The Comedians fame. Wally has also suddenly grown an adult brother, Benny (Mike Reid), whose attributes include staying on the dole and a seemingly pathological urge to sponge off his big bruvver, to the point where he too – much to the chagrin of Lily – moves into the council house. This was a follow up to previous ITV comedy hit ROMANY JONES where Wally and Lily Briggs have left their caravan park and now live in a council house . I have no knowledge of ROMANY JONES but do remember YUS MY DEAR being vaguely amusing and the show was relatively popular when it was broadcast in 1976 . After seeing it again recently one can only wonder why ?In the first series, Benny has a girlfriend, the blowsy Molly (Valerie Walsh), to whom he becomes engaged, but the relationship falters in the second series. The characters of Wally and Lily Briggs proved so successful that they were subsequently spun-off into their own series: Yus My Dear. Another sitcom from the London Weekend stable. Yus My Dear was the spin off sequel from the classic Romany Jones. It starred Arthur Mullard and Queenie Watts reprising their roles as Wally and Lilly Briggs. Amidst a sea of washing lines and dustbins, the ever-present challenge for the Briggs’ to keep up with the Crichton-Joneses kept viewers laughing through 27 episodes of Romany Jones.
