About this deal

As a spicy food lover, the spice level was unknown to me at first, but it's not too bad once you get used to it. In a way, it was a mix of more sweet than spicy compared to other spices I have tasted. How to make Rabokki? Tteokbokki is a popular Korean streetfood, made out of chewy rice cakes (naturally gluten free) and a fiery red sauce. The word “ tteok” means “rice cakes” and “bokki” refers to “bokkeum,” which means “stir fried.” “ Rabokki” is what happens when you mix tteokbokki with ramen noodles. So, if you like tteokbokki (which most people do) and you like ramen noodles (I mean…who doesn’t like ramen noodles?), you will LOVE Rabokki. As always, you are the artist in your own kitchen, so please feel free to make any creative substitutions as your heart desires. Experience the gentle sweetness of YOPOKKI's sweet tteokbokki flavor, offering a delightful balance to the spicy and savory options.

Rice cakes (Tteok): you can use either the sliced or the cylinder-shaped rice cakes for this recipe, but the latter (pictured above) is the one that is traditionally used for this dish. Jjajang tteokbokki offers a comforting and satisfying experience, with savory umami flavors that delight the palate.

What do I need to make Rabokki?

If you can, look for the fresh made tteok in the Korean grocery store. They are usually delivered fresh that morning, so if you get there before the afternoon, there should be plenty left for you. Just ASK! The standard ingredients that go into rabokki are Korean rice cakes, ramen noodles, Korean fish cakes, cabbage leaves, spicy gochujang sauce and hard boiled eggs (to top it up).

Rice cakes (tteok): Refrigerated or frozen tubular rice cakes are easy to find, but need to be soaked beforehand. If using fresh tteok, skip this step. Korean fish cakes:these are often sold frozen in sheet form like this in asian grocery stores, and can be defrosted in just a few seconds under hot tap water. Anyway, try this soon! You will love it. Ingredients for Rabokki (2 to 3 servings, as a main meal) Main The intense spiciness provides a thrilling sensation that ignites the taste buds and leaves you craving for more. These cups of Rabokki are great for enjoying the popular Korean rice cake and noodle dish without the time or effort to make it from scratch. Rabokki (also spelled ddukbokki, ddeokbokki, dukbokki or topokki), is a beloved Korean dish with many variations and a rich history. Literally translated as “stir-fried rice cake”, this spicy rice cake and ramen dish is enormously popular as a street food and also enjoyed at home. It’s so good, once you get a taste, you’ll be craving for more!

Additionally, I would recommend using egg, roasted seaweed and cheese to make this even more delicious. In my opinion, cheese makes a lot of difference to the dish. There's something about the sauce mixed with cheese that goes really well! Also, some people might choose to add chewy noodles (jjolmyeon, 쫄면) instead of ramen noodles. Some people even add Korean ramen seasoning powder in addition to the spicy gochujang sauce. Green onion, cabbage, and boiled eggs: to add to the Rabokki. You can be creative with this and add any other toppings or extra vegetables as your heart desires.
