To add a bit of detail; I have couple of Egmont versions of Tintin (both older and recently printed) and the Farshore versions are a 1/2 step down in quality. The actual paper quality is weaker and the colour reproduction slightly different too - I would describe the Farshore versions having the colour saturation turned up a notch too far. I was disappointed on that front.

The characters are developed enough to enjoy without taking away from the plot too much. Generally I prefer well developed characters interwoven into the plot. For the Adventures of Tintin, I think it works better that the characters are not always personally involved.
