About this deal

Not to be confused with the 21.5-inch 4K UltraFine Display that’s sold in Apple Stores, this 32-inch display comes with Thunderbolt 3, and features the familiar LG design language found on many of the displays within the company’s lineup. Determining what is most important when choosing a monitor depends on which color space (CMYK, sRGB, DCI-P3, or Adobe RGB) you usually use. We recommend choosing a monitor with a wide range of colors. The higher the percentage, the better the experience. The DCI-P3 color space is the most popular and has the widest range of colors. Being that it’s an IPS display, off-axis viewing angles — whether left, right, up, or down — are good. The display also does a good job of rejecting reflections, although ambient light hitting the screen will require users to crank up the brightness. What we love about the LG 32UL950 is its performance in gaming, since it can handle motion quite well despite the limited refresh rate. The monitor’s pixel transition time is agile enough to avoid irritating image retention or ghosting, although there are a few trails here and there. We think its forgivable due to the 60Hz refresh rate, so looking for something better will point you in the direction of either TN-based options or the super expensive 144Hz segment.

Based on our analysis, the LG 32" 32UN880-B and LG 32" 32UL950-W monitors both have a refresh rate of 5 ms, which we found was good for gaming. With some low refresh rate monitors, we've had situations where their low refresh rate resulted in choppy, stuttering motion, particularly during fast-paced action scenes in movies or games. This poor performance of having a low refresh rate is because the monitor cannot keep up with the speed at which the picture changes. A higher refresh rate can reduce this effect, resulting in a more immersive and responsive experience. Our experience with monitors has shown us that a high refresh rate is crucial when playing fast-paced games such as first-person shooters and racing games. Examples of such devices are external SSDs, like the Samsung X5 SSD featured in the video above, and eGPUs like the Razer Core X. You’ll encounter less-than-optimal performance when connecting to bandwidth-hungry devices like the aforementioned, so it’s best to directly connect these to your Mac if possible. As with most third-party displays, the LG UltraFine 4K is comprised almost entirely of plastic. It can’t compete with the build quality of Apple’s most recent displays, but it’s par for the course as far as most third-parties ventures are concerned. Loads of I/O The most widely used panels are those with 6, 8, and 10 bits for each of the RGB components of the pixel. They provide 18-, 24-, and 30-bit color, respectively. The storage humidity shows the lower and upper humidity limit, which ensures safe storage of the display. Storing it outside these limits might damage the display. Eurostat Electricity Price (as of 1st Half of 2020), ** Consumption duration based on Initiative EnergieEffizienz (as of 2013) Along with the Thunderbolt 3 ports, which also accommodate non-Thunderbolt 3 USB-C connections, there are a pair of USB-A ports, DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0, and a 3.5mm headphone port.

On the flip-side, I actually prefer a larger 4K panel, as it’s easier on my eyes. Assets are larger on screen while in pixel-doubled Retina mode, which makes it easier to read. Although I love the idea of 5K panels, even my 27-inch iMac gives me problems from time to time when running at its default resolution. DCI P3 is a color space, introduced in 2007 by the SMPTE. It is used in digital cinema and has a much wider gamut than the sRGB. Often even a higher peak luminance can be achieved under certain conditions. For example, when a smaller area/APL of the display is used for showing a bright object, when a bright object is displayed for a short time, etc.Approximate width of the display. If the manufacturer does not provide such information, the width is calculated from the diagonal and the aspect ratio. Design-wise, I prefer this LG UltraFine Display to the design of the model with the same name currently sold in Apple Stores. The bezels are slimmer, there’s way more I/O, the screen is less reflective, and the stand is more attractive. Desktop monitors and smart TVs experience a latency/lag in visualizing the information. The time in milliseconds that the display needs to visualize the signal input. Approximate height of the display. If the manufacturer does not provide such information, the height is calculated from the diagonal and the aspect ratio.

The maximum number of colors, which the display is able to reproduce, depends on the type of the panel in use and color enhancing technologies like FRC. monitors: Digital cinema 4K resolution provides crisp images with a significant number of pixels on screen. 4K resolution displays over four times the resolution of standard 1920 x1080 FHD, and over half a million more pixels than UHD resolution, which means you can view even the finest details clearly.
