About this deal

The female equivalent to Henry or also known as the female Henry Hoover, Hetty Hoover is another popular vacuum cleaner from the Henry family. A common question we see is what’s the difference between Hetty and Henry? The answer is not much at all. Apart from her appearance, Hetty is exactly the same vacuum so it’s not a case of Henry vs Hetty. The only real difference is that Hetty is pink compared to the traditional red. She also comes complete with eyelashes to add to her more feminine appearance. Hetty shares the exact same specifications as the Henry Hoover 160-11. Hetty smiles just as much as Henry, and in terms of performance is just as able. Hetty has a highly efficient motor, a 10 metre cable and rewind storage system, and comes with a host of useful accessories. The eternally cheerful Henry vacuum is a big red bundle of easily recognisable joy. As well as being highly photogenic, Henry comes with a basic set of specs that are carried on throughout the range. He was first produced in the 80’s and Numatic hit the nail so firmly on the head that very few changes have had to be made to his original design over time. Henry’s little sister is Hetty. She comes with all the same features as Henry, but the introduction of Eco technology helps you to save the planet and your wallet at the same time. A smaller size means she’s easier to store, but a 9-litre bag capacity, means there’s plenty of dust storage room.

When you buy one of these machines you are buying a product that will stand the test of time. It won’t let you down. It will continue to run even when you can no longer do so. That’s a special thing in a brand. FAQ’s about the Henry Vacuum Range Alison's house also has 16 stairs with a deep quarter turn and the Henry didn’t quite reach the top despite its long cord. Pet bedding was also left clean and fresh. Alison’s cat refuses to use his cat bed if ever it is washed, so keeping it clean with a vacuum is essential – the Henry made the bed look as good as new during our test period. Since the 90s, Numatic have become an international brand, expanding into Germany, Paris, Johannesburg, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Portugal, and Spain. Their products are known for longevity and durability. To date, Numatic have sold more than 11 million of these nifty little vacuums and they estimate that most are still being used… even those early models that were hammered out of steel in the first Somerset factory.

Unstoppable Cleaning, Built to Last

Numatic International are a wholesome British firm with their origins in Somerset, circa 1969. Arguably, the founding date of the firm is why we associate the Henry vacuum cleaner with 60s and 70s memorabilia. The fact that only a few tweaks to the original model of vacuum cleaner have needed made in all that time is astounding. The Henry is more than 50 years old! The Henry range have tremendous amounts of colour to them – but only one (very distinctive) style. If it has that big happy face, if the nose is the vacuum hose, and if it perpetually, moronically, and frustratingly never stops grinning? It’s a Henry. In addition to the basic vacuum, the HVR200 comes with Numatic's AS1 stainless steel accessory kit. This includes extension tubes, soft brush and a harder cleaner. While the traditional Henry has an A class energy efficiency rating, other models don’t match it. The worst is actually the Harry, which has a C class energy efficiency rating. It is important because a higher consumption vacuum cleaner will use more, costing you more in power. They aren’t as environmentally friendly either, so if being E-friendly is important to you the basic Henry is the better model. Size & Shape The frugal member of the family, James Hoover is a slightly smaller vacuum cleaner and comes with a couple of other alterations.

Henry the Hoover has become a mainstay in British households since his introduction in the early 1980s, meaning the original Henry Hoover has now been cleaning UK households and workplaces for more than fourty years. Famed for this smiling face and red colour, Henry has become a firm favourite and a vacuum of choice. One of the downsides to the HVB160 is that it doesn't cope with pet hair - especially when it's ground into carpets. The heavy design also puts the Henry Cordless at the other end of the spectrum to models like the lightweight Dyson V8 and Vax Blade Pro. Some people prefer the ability to wind the cable in and James allows you to do that. He also has a caddy in which he can nicely store away and attachments. A plugged cable means it is pretty easy to replace the mains cable.

Aside from the cordless features, this vacuum is very similar to the standard Henry Compact. It has a much larger dust capacity than most cordless vacs, but is also heavier and bulkier. It also includes similar accessories and on-board tool storage to Henry. If you are desperately seeking an upright vacuum cleaner then have a look at our article regarding the best lightweight upright vacuum cleaners of the year, so far. Power Settings As usual, the Micro Henry comes with all the longevity and durability you would expect from this exemplary range. It looks almost the same as the basic model but has the ‘Micro’ scrawled on top. It also weighs only 7.5 kgs, just like the original, making it easy to get around your home. As an added bonus this is a small, compact machine that makes it ideal for smaller apartments. Best Wet Cleaning – the best wet cleaner could be the George, but the Charles does a great job of cleaning up wet spills, too. It just doesn’t have the added extras and 4-in-1 capacity of the George. At its core, the HVR200 is a 620W cylinder vacuum cleaner with a long hose. It has a large 9 litre dust capacity, so you won't need to change bags as often as you would empty a bagless vacuum, and a wide cleaning radius. The Henry uses HepaFlo bags and comes with a TriTex filtration system.

Overall, the Hetty matches the Henry step-for-step and blow-for-blow. It all comes down to taste, we suppose. Hetty is much more fabulous than Henry is but has all the same features. Do with this information as you will. As the name suggests, the Henry Xtra is just like the regular Henry but a little bit more. He comes with a host of different accessories and features which means he can cope with just about any job going. We have covered just about everything there is you need to know before you make your choice. The Henry vacuum cleaner range is extensive and iconic. There is a high chance that they will be the only thing to survive a nuclear explosion and still work. There’s also a number of different Henry versions, including the popular Henry Xtra, Henry Allergy, Henry Pet, Henry Eco and Henry Micro. There’s even now a Henry Cordless option too.Henry is the model that started it all – although he’s had a number of upgrades over the years. With a charming exterior and simple design, you could be forgiven for thinking it can’t compete with more expensive models. As we found in our Henry Hoover review, however, this is far from the case.
