Light golden straw, clear with a two-finger sized white head with good retention and some lacing left on glass. It may come as a surprise to you that the company behind Turkey’s first-ever beer festival would be Efes. But the reason is quite interesting. The Tuborg brewery controls around 15% of the Turkish beer market, and the brewery was set up around the same time as Efes’. They placed it right down the road from the Efes brewery. While Efes dominates, Tuborg has done surprisingly well. Feathers have been ruffled. Efes has decided to highlight the fact that it is a Turkish brewery, and that Tuborg is not. Thanks to Turkey’s banning of any form of beer advertising it is almost impossible to talk about similar Turkish beers. Very skunky with tonnes of corn & even more grain. Some grassy hops but not a lot showing because of the grain. Taste doesn't quite match the promise of the aroma. Mouth feel is a little simple. Aftertaste is also. It certainly is a bit unique...Mythos is what it reminds me of most. This is a little more bitter, but less crisp. The more I drink it, the more I like it. Actually it's really good. I'd say it's as good as a typical German pilsner such as Krombacher or Warsteiner.
