The build quality and overall design of the camera is excellent and has improved further, with a forward-facing colour screen to help with set up and so you can review images/videos without dismounting the camera in the field. The camouflage has changed and is better suited now to UK and temperate conditions. Both of these camera traps are the new versions of the previous Advantage cameras, which were hugely popular and used far and wide – not only by our customers in large numbers, but also by the likes of WWF, Chester Zoo, ZSL – and even the BBC on programmes such as Winterwatch. Additional features include a front-facing 5cm viewing screen, whichallows you to view your images in the field.The camera is powered by 8 x AA batteries (lithium batteries included in the starter bundle) and is compatible with SDXC cards of up to 512GB as well as SDHC cards (32GB SDHC included with starter bundle). SD card management options allow you to overwrite older images on the card if the memory is full. It offers faster trigger speeds, and improved night video definition. Detection and sensitivity have also been improved.

The Recon Force Elite HP5 is a medium size trail camera capable of 24MP pictures and 1080 HD videos. Photo quality is often overlooked on this camera because the video quality is so good – but the photos don’t disappoint either. The sound on the wolf & lynx videos is caused by the MGX camera trying to communicate with the cellular network. There is also the Smart IR video feature, which allows the camera to continue recording a video during the daytime as long at motion is detected. Then once movement is no longer detected the camera will stop recording the video clip. Trigger Speed Recording video is another of the key capabilities of the Recon Force Edge, and it makes full use of its suitably powerful internal components and high resolution sensor to allow for clips to be captured at 1080p full HD at either 30 frames per second or 60 frames per second. You can even adjust the speed with which the camera is triggered, with the fastest possible time of 0.2 seconds giving you better responsiveness at the expense of clarity in some circumstances, while the maximum of 0.7 seconds lets your subjects get into frame a little more, but may result in some near misses. It is ultimately about giving you the flexibility you need to set the wildlife camera up how you want it, according to the kinds of animals you hope to spot.The Browning Recon Force Edge is a great value wildlife camera with impressive video quality. It's the next version along from the Recon Force Advantage, which has been incredibly popular before it was discontinued, and a step below the most recent Recon Force Elite HP5. For some, the 1080p full HD maximum video resolution might seem to be a step down from the 4K-ready cameras that Browning also has on offer. However, the purpose of this model is to sit slightly higher than entry-level trail cameras in terms of price and features, while not bothering with the extraneous bells and whistles that can typify some of the more expensive devices of a similar pedigree. The Browning Recon Force Elite HP4 builds on the Recon Force Edge and is comfortably our favourite camera trap at NatureSpy. The video quality day and night is superb, better than on any other camera trap, and photo quality is very solid.
