Despite its cleverness, the cryptex is a fictional device created by Dan Brown and credited to Leonardo in his popular book, The Da Vinci Code; however, this device is both clever and in some ways intriguing, as it appears to Leonardo. Despite Leonardo’s efforts, it is impossible to prove that he invented or constructed such a device.
