If you’ve never read the book of Matthew before, or maybe your bible has some dust on it, you need to pick this one up. While seeing the ways that the artists chose to portray the Gospels in the manga format were often rewarding--and sometimes amusing--one of my favorite things about Manga Messiah was when the story emphasized subtle connections that I had never really thought about.

The passages which are depicted by the images are listed at the bottom of each page, encouraging the reader to turn to God’s word for a more detailed account. This book takes it a step further by pointing out where exactly in the Bible one can read the account. We have not stopped working on new translations of the NEXTMANGA series so that more and more manga fans around the world can read the story of God’s redemption on earth through the massively popular Japanese MANGA art form. I actually picked up the entire series while I was in Japan (there are 5 books in all, covering a lot from Genesis through Revalations).We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. Very moving and inspirational with art that is simple yet effective in helping to convey the message of Jesus.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Reaching out to peoeple who doesn't know His journey, I would say that this would be one of the best evangelical books to reach out to many who needs to know the Truth and Love that Jesus is still showing us until today. Comixology's Jason Thompson was less impressed, heavily criticizing the art of the book, referring to it as the "most basic kind of manga shorthand—awkward geometric faces with big eyes, big hair, exaggerated expressions" with "blandly attractive" main characters, "dorky caricatures" of old RPG characters used for the villains, and crudely drawn backgrounds. The only non-conventional things are that it’s in full-colour and there is probably more text than is typical. In a follow-up piece, Wilson himself claimed that " Manga Messiah depicts sinister, swarthy rabbis scheming with the devils and Jews laughing at and taunting Jesus as Christ is nailed to the cross.
