After seeing the introduction of the Energy section in Home Assistant, I wanted to get onboard with monitoring the homes electricity consumption. To test the accuracy of this single clamp power meter by Tuya, I decided to test it against a high quality flood light rated at 100watts.

This product works very well with the Tuya Smart app, with accurate real-time display of power consumption. Take the CT off the cable, pull the plug out and you should see a big spike of power that dies away over a few tens of seconds, then another when you plug the CT back in. I can only think of some peculiar wire arrangement in the box above the test hook that influences measurements when the CT is placed in certain positions… I’m now using simple cloth clips for holding the CTs on the side to avoid future problems.the hardware have 16CH CT Clamp sensor INPUT ports + 3CH analog input + Ethernet + WiFi + Bluetooth + DS3231 RTC module + SSD1306 I2C LCD display + SD card. You also do not have rcd protection in that fuse box, the fuses are there to protect the cables, not people, so be very careful with your electrics in general, fuses might not disconnect / wont disconnect in time if you get a shock and you could be electrocuted.

Again, I can understand that moving the CT might cause a slight change especially if the two halves of the core moved and added, altered or removed a small air gap, but I cannot see how that could repeat on alternate readings. To pair it, press and hold the button on the module for ~5seconds until the red LED starts blinking. Flow temp is 55C with weather modulation - it's expensive but works even during the Beast from the East. And the threshold is also high, a small difference between readings, like 5w, will not trigger a new message. Two sizes available: Standard (10mm diameter cable, 72A max) or Large (17mm diameter cable, 200A max).I don’t have much experience with CTs and I found no specific instructions as how to put the meter on the wire.
