About this deal

Her dreams are located in a movie studio lot where various actors assemble to stage her dreams as movie productions. Recently, we've done several changes to help out this wiki, from deleting empty pages, improving the navigation, adding a rules page, as well as merging film infoboxes. When eleven-year-old Riley (Kaitlyn Dias) is forced to relocate to San Francisco after her dad gets a new job, she has trouble adjusting to her new surroundings.

In every passing hour without Riley’s core memories and all emotions presents, the islands of her personality begin to crumble.

Joy works with Anger (Lewis Black), Fear (Bill Hader), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith) in Riley's head, guiding her reactions to life. You can check out the latest overhauls that we have done on this wiki so far, as well as upcoming updates in our announcement post here. Fans of Pixar are certainly going to love this as it's another winner that manages to work no matter what your age is. Whilst Pixar appear have marketed this as an original idea, most people, here in the UK anyway, seem to think it's been lifted directly from 'The Numbskulls' and I'm inclined to agree! It certainly makes one want to watch the Japanese version, to see if the translated dialogue takes on the tone of the voiceover here.

Her emotions - Joy (Poehler), Sadness (Smith), Fear (Hader), Anger (Black) and Disgust (Kaling) - that reside in Headquarters, the control centre of her mind, try to help her navigate her way through the big change. It's great to see some of the early versions of the characters, as well as to hear about the thought process behind the animation in the film, like dealing with a lead character that exudes light and the influence of 2D animation. She's put to the test when Riley's parents up and move to San Francisco, uprooting her life and upsetting her good time, especially when her parents don't have the best of times following the move. Young Riley's had a pretty great life in Minnesota, playing hockey and enjoying time with her parents, which has made for an easy life for Joy (Amy Poehler), the emotion that rules Riley's life. This film is loaded with challenging material, whether it's the glass memory balls or the detail of the memory archives.

Then there's the trailer for Japan (2:30), which is exceedingly heavy-handed in explaining the film and pushing the drama. Director Pete Docter based the scenario off of both his own childhood experience of moving to Denmark as a kid and the changes he noticed in his pre-teen daughter growing up. It’s a very relatable tale of a little girl homesick for the home and life she’s about to leave behind. The story becomes very convoluted as it battles between being entertaining and keeping us on track with the emotions the memories the islands (cant be bothered to explain those) and whats going on. e. a hairstyle here, a face there, a body from somewhere else and putting it all together to create a new character and that seems to be exactly what they've done here as well, I even noticed Minions re-cycled here too! There are a few preliminary versions of the mind designs highlighted here, which all would have resulted in very different movies.
