About this deal

Why do photographers go to the bother of signing a photograph in the first place, its not as if its a piece of original artwork? Until I read about the "balance rule" I hadn't really perceived that the base appears to be narrower than it really is! I am constantly varying the width with changes of colour and tone and again when deciding on a frame, sometimes this may be 5 or 10mm sometimes 1 or 2mm, with multiple mounts I can be playing with 0.

In the following video and article below, we'll walk you through a few options and techniques you can use to design a custom frame that perfectly suits your art. If so, get a piece of card that's bigger than your picture and choose what thickness you'd like between the photo and the frame. But in reality a perfectly cut mat that proportionately surrounds your artwork can be done without needing a degree in physics. There is much useful discussion and information on this forum, which I very much welcome but I wonder why the FATG never hosted such a forum in the first place, or am I being naive? Some photographs are not reproducible, the negative or digitial file may have been lost or destroyed, to assume otherwise is arrogant folly. Discounts are available when purchasing multiples of the exact same specification custom made product. We have a broad range of colours to choose from, including classic black, white, and natural wood finishes, as well as bold, bright shades such as red, blue, and yellow.

When you go dark on the picture mount, it becomes the dominant force on the artwork; therefore, the eye is drawn more to the mount surrounding the art or photo than it is to what’s in the picture. If your picture's size corresponds with a standard size, opt for a standard-sized frame, it's more convenient.I know that apprentiships in framing are not supported by the various government initiatives to encourage modern apprenticeships. I think it more likely that they just did it by eye and the measurements to derive the ratio were made at a later time. The choice between wood and metal frames will depend on your personal style, your space and the picture you're framing - learn more. Not the photographers fault I know, but they end up supplying them, but someone should inform the manufacturers of these mass produced mounts and the university's of this.
