So now, I no longer have my original 2000 unrated DVD since I replaced it with the Killer Edition almost fifteen years ago; but from memory, it was virtually identical to the French DVD, which used the same root master. Patrick Bateman, a young, well-to-do man is seemingly the model of a perfect life on the outside with a fiancee (Witherspoon) to boot. In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I’ll put on an ice pack while doing my stomach crunches.

I always appreciated that they nailed the look of the film, like Less Than Zero, and the performances. Truth be told I would have been happy with a nice lossless mix, but I really appreciate that Lionsgate went the extra mile. This piece is a bit pretentious, and being only marginally familiar with the scene, I didn't recognize half of the names or faces here. The club scenes are even more electric, and the song track monologues deliver a slew of defining song tracks superbly, giving yet further fuel for the surrounds.

Bateman is the ultimate yuppie, judging everyone by what they are wearing and how they are wearing it, and becomes panicked and irrational if someone has anything better than what he has. The first sign of trouble appears right during the opening credits over a set of impeccable white silk cloth, where a bit of speckling and pronounced grain are immediately evident.I don't just mean that it features the same old transfer, although yes it does; but it's the exact same disc, with the same alternate set of special features, the same label and everything. Mary Harron managed to craft a solid and entertaining film from the particularly difficult Bret Easton Ellis source novel while Christian Bale goes full out in a terrific performance that should have gotten him a lot more attention in its day. Even the older, French DVD has it' though it's less noticeable since it's already slightly window-boxed. Well things do go bump in the night here in both the score and the “Hip To Be Square” soundtrack, but also the chainsaw, gunshots and even explosions near the film’s end when Bateman’s brain is seemingly melting.

When Patrick is outshone by a rival at a board meeting, he takes out his frustration by knifing a man sleeping rough in the street. A Wall Street yuppie hides his alternate psychopathic ego from his co-workers and friends as he delves deeper into his violent, hedonistic fantasies.

American Psycho's 4K release is no exception, with all of the old extras making the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc itself - including Commentaries, Deleted Scenes with optional Commentary, and two Featurettes on the 80s New York scene and the adapting the book - but also a further, new Commentary from the Director to boot. Blu-ray A Uncut Version America- Lions Gate Home Entertainment - No cuts – Unrated version (102:02). The Killer Edition also came in a cool slipcover and included a fold-out insert with notes by Holly Willis, co-founder of Filmmaker Magazine.

Also, the new commentary and Book To Screen doc are only on the UHD, not the blu-ray, because again, the 2018 blu-ray is just another copy of the 2007 blu-ray.I hadn't seen the film all the way through in almost 14 years and I was worried that the film had passed its expiration date. Facial features, deconstructed jackets and clothing, and the film's excellent 80s production design are all on display. There’s even bright explosions to contrast the deep, inky nighttime blacks towards the film’s ending.
