About this deal

The When I Dream Board Game is an imaginative and entertaining game that can be enjoyed by all ages. It’s premise is simple yet original, perfect for casual board game nights with friends and family. Players take turns being the dreamer while the others play as the other players in their dreams, trying to guess what they dreamt based on their ambiguous recaps! With its unique design, this game might be a great choice for those looking to easily bring fun and creativity into your home. As a fairy, you’re trying to get someone to guess one word out of the 171,476 words in the English language. But if that wasn’t hard enough, you also want to give clues that out the boogeymen. Either by refuting their clue, or making it impossible for the Dreamer to get it wrong.

The Boogeyman role is a chance to ease up on the pressure. You don’t have to think up good clues, because you don’t want to help the dreamer guess correctly. Still, it’s not a boring or lazy role. Your best bet is to avoid blatantly obvious bad clues and drop hints that lead the Dreamer askew. Your success relies on getting them to guess Trombone instead of Trumpet, Table instead of Desk, King instead of Knight. And you know what? It’s pretty fun to give bad clues. These creatures only exist in your dreams, you knowWell, the creative minds of Repos Production brought all of the elusive wonders of dreaming into a board game. When I Dream is a family-friendly game of surprise, teamwork, and strategy. Players take it in turn to act as the dreamer, with the aim being for the dreamer to guess the mystery words before their team can guess all the words. When I Dream has been awarded with the People’s Choice Award in Epitrapezio 2016, 3rd best card game in Epitrapezio 2016 and nominated as one of the most Innovative Board Game in BostonFIG 2016. However, things aren’t so straight forward. The clue-givers are given secret roles at the start of each round, and the role they receive determines the way they score points. One player will become the sleeper, and all other players will act as Dream Spirits. Some will be naughty, and one will be nice. The game will determine the roles of the players, but nobody is allowed to tell the others. The Dreamer must attempt to guess the aspects of the dream with only one-word hints from the other players! The Dreamer will then tell the story of his dream to the others, leading to lots of laughs with the group! SETUP

When I Dream encourages cooperation, empathy, explanation skills and memory skills while having fun with family or friends of any age! It’s fast-paced Fun which won’t make you bored during long winter evenings. Everyone will feel just like they are in an enchanted forest with owls hooting around them every single night! Benefits of Playing Dreams Board Game Some of the most creative minds in the world will say that a lot of their best ideas come from their dreams. When I dream is an easy to learn party game for all ages that's full of laughs from the get go. Whether you're the dreamer, a good spirit, or a bad one, each role has its own unique challenges and each time you play is shaped by the extent of your imagination, making every play-through a new experience to remember. Choose who goes first ” this is usually done by rolling a special die or having each person take turns counting down from 5 and whoever stops at 1 goes first! The game lasts after five rounds, after which points will be totalled. All correct guesses count as points that will determine the winner at the end of the game.

Boogeyman

Players cannot say a clue that is part of the word on the dream card. (For example, you cannot say “prince” if the word is “princess”). Use the headboard to hide either the bottom or top word. The cards can be rotated for more playability. The Dreamer scores 1 point for each Dream card on the Yellow side of the board. They also score 2 extra points if they mentioned all the Elements placed on the Yellow side of the board when recounting the dream. The dreamer must guess what is on the dream card. If they guess correct, it goes to the side of the team playing good spirits. If the guess is wrong, the card is won by the naughty spirits. Put a unique take on storytelling by assigning specific roles to players where they have a more hands-on approach in creating the narrative with their Dreamers and acts instead of just playing against each other.

Before opening their eyes to wake for the day, they can try to recount their dream in a story. If they’re able to include all of the correctly guessed words, the dreamer gets bonus points. But they must recount all of the correct words. For balance, I should probably mention the parts I would definitely swipe left on. The first thing is the scenarios. In each round of the game, you are supposed to be in a certain place when you find out your crush’s secrets. I don’t think the scenarios add anything to the game, as often they’re irrelevant to the secrets you learn. It doesn’t matter when and how you find out someone voted for Trump, it’s just an automatic pass. It’s a shame that there are so few scorecards as well. I know that you can just reuse, but often erasing the same sheet over and over makes them worn and tatty. It gives the feeling that Dream Crush is around for a good time, not a long time. Swipe Left or Swipe Right? Likewise, group dynamics established by individual personalities and existing relationships amongst players add further nuance to proceedings. Fairies and dreamers will find anecdotal references to shared experiences particularly useful in boosting each other's scores, whilst boogeymen can disrupt this type of play by subtly twisting words and their associated meanings. Opportunistic sandmen will find themselves having to rapidly switch roles throughout the round as they desperately try to maintain a balance between correct and incorrect elements. This may seem chaotic at first but after a few rounds you’ll realise that the game is at its best once everyone starts to relax and feed off of each other's ideas and energy organically. Overall, I have a lot of fun playing this game. It’s almost always a hit with a crowd. Plus, the creative artwork, with 220 illustrations, also adds to the experience and the production quality of the game. If the Dreamer is confused and has no ideas, they can skip the current card by saying: "Pass". The card is then placed on the Blue side of the board. The Dreamer is only able to guess one time. If they are correct, then the card is placed on the yellow side of the board. If the Dreamer is not correct, then the card is placed on the blue side of the board. Once the two minutes are up, the player will be able to guess, and if they decide not to, the game will just continue, using the same card. And actually, it’s quite the “brain game” for the dreamer. They will be listening, guessing and deciphering who’s who, all while trying to remember every guess they give.
