About this deal

For several months now we’ve been waiting for the release of GW’s newest terrain set, Battlezone Fronteris, which was first previewed late last year and received rules in the Vigilus Alone campaign supplement. This new boxed set expands on the terrain first introduced in the now-legendary Moon Base Klaisus boxed set and further expanded on in the Kill Team Kill Zone Fronteris set. In addition to adding several large new elements, this terrain has been billed by GW as great for both narrative and competitive play. The individual pieces are chunky and geometric and well made enough to fit together easily without any significant gaps. The instructions are straightforward and easy to follow and the top of the landing pad actually comes as a single separate piece with no attached sprues. Based on the value of this set having 2 sprues. In Kill Team Nachmund we get 2 of the same sprue instead of 2 different ones DYLON: My only quibble with this range of terrain is the separate kit cost. I really only wanted the landing pad and the radar dish/comms array kits, but when I realized that for only a little more I could get everything, I went ahead and got the big box. If you’re just buying one of the kits, it’s worth it, but anything more than that, just grab the box and have a ton of rad terrain at a considerable discount. Whatever faction you take to Nachmund, you’re sure to stumble across Imperial handiwork, making this terrain a must-have. It will be released later in the year as part of the host of releases that will make up this season of Warhammer 40,000.

The scenery has been a bit of a mess to work out. Whilst there’s a lot here. it’s little more than a bunch of old sets with a new paint job. Literally. everything silver and beige is now blue and white. If it sounds like the Chaos team is more fleshed-out and interesting than the Corsairs team well, it is. They have more going on from a customization standpoint and more going on as a result end up having more going on in their Spec Ops rules, because some of their options interact in more interesting ways with the rules your team can have. Its’ great stuff, and makes me excited to build a Legionary Team in a Spec Ops campaign. Since I last got very confused about the prices of some plastic dudes and some ruined buildings, we’ve not only had GW increase their prices, but we’ve also had a few releases that help shed light on some of the pricings of these Kill Team expansion boxes.

However, as before, the parts for each model are scattered haphazardly across three sprues once again, just as they were with the Chaos units. But the issue is more profound with the Voidscarred, as each model is on the whole made up of more parts. Said parts are also significantly smaller, which makes them even more difficult to find. Fowler: I only went in on the landing pad, and I am pleasantly surprised with how beefy it is. It’s got one loose big piece and a big chunky sprue for the sides and staircase. Lots of similar design elements from Sector Mechanicus and Zone Mortalis terrain here. Assembly We’re now seven months into the new edition of Kill Team and we’re once again receiving a hearty injection of fresh content. We are still oin Q1 of 2022 and already we have seen the new Kill Team Starter Set (essentially Octarius lite) release at the end of January. PS: For scenery discounts, I recommend cold-calling to any and all FLGS or GW store in your city, and ask them if anyone is looking to split the new "KillTeam" boxes (Nachmund, Octarius, etc). They will, invariably, tell you "yes", and re-sell you the parts you wish separately, without accomplices needed.

Given that the contents of Chalnath and Nachmund are very similar, we can safely assume this formula will likely be carried across into future Kill Team expansions, so buyers will be safe in the knowledge that they are making a reasonable saving of around 30% when buying a complete box instead of all the individual parts separately. Something I really, really like about your method is that it is fast, and seems to create a really rich base for further Contrast paints work. So, in theory, you could do the ready-to-play colour scheme as you did, then increasingly work on adding colourful details later on, as long as you haven't added the varnish yet. Does it pan out like that? From a narrative standpoint, there’s a ton of cool stuff about this terrain, which can be used to build some very cool features and add interesting add-ons to existing features. There aren’t enough “whole, complete buildings” in the 40k terrain library and while that makes sense from the standpoint of building terrain you can interact with in 40k, it also makes things a little boring when you can’t have a battle in a yet-to-be-destroyed part of a city or planet. Fowler: The landing pad is definitely a luxury, especially as it may not be universally useful terrain. If you are interested and the price works for you – it’s a great piece of kit. There are also two double-sided folding gaming boards measuring 30″ x 22.4″. Each one of these double-sided boards is the right size for a Kill Team game and you can combine them for a Combat Patrol or Incursion scale game of 40K, which means anything up to 1000 points. Is It Easy To Assemble?

After 10,000 years of war, turmoil and destruction, the Imperium of mankind is on the brink of collapse and is besieged on all fronts by Xenos filth and blasphemous traitors. The Domain of the Emperor has been split asunder by Cicatrix Maledictux, the galaxy-spanning warp storm; stripping planetary systems of all life, through plague, mutation and Daemonic hellfire raining down from the skies. If you toned down some of the grimdark elements by shaving off some of the skulls, you could even make use of this set with other skirmish and roleplay systems. If, however, you’re after more of the same stuff as can be found within the cardboard walls of the Nachmund box, the path may seem a little less clear. As I said above we do not have a direct comparison for this set. But in the time since I started writing this and now, GW has released the Aeldari Guardians. Which is 10 models with a Hovering heavy Weapons Platform. The new edition of Kill Team is a bit complicated given that there are all sorts of different things available to aid your gaming, and might seem quite daunting to the uninitiated. First off, here are our predictions for how much this stuff will cost to buy separately and the total predicted value of the contents of the Nachmund box, based on the values listed above. Note that this does not include the gaming board. Item Wednesday brings a new episode of Loremasters to Warhammer+ all about the sinister and clandestine Imperial organisation known as the Inquisition, and you can also catch part one of a three-part Citadel Colour Masterclass series looking at painting the magnificent Avatar of Khaine. Meanwhile, on the animations front, you can expect the third and final episode of The Exodite on the 6th of April, as we continue to ramp up to a biweekly animation schedule.
