About this deal

My books have sold more than two million copies in the UK and have been translated into 22 other languages including French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Korean, German, Hungarian, Serbian, Romanian, Greek and Dutch. The story is told by Connor’s dad Andy, with his wife Laura and younger daughter Harriet. At first, Andy gets a phone call from his brother Rob to say that his son Zac hasn’t returned home, and they go searching for him. But when they realise that Zac stayed in Connors Bed and his son didn’t return home that night. When there is a phone call from the police to say that Connor has been arrested for the disappearance of Emily. Emily is the daughter of an actress, and all sorts of accusations appear on social media of what happened that night. Andy knows that this son is innocent and wants to prove the police wrong. Tim’s thrillers have sold more than two million copies in the UK and are published in translation in 22 other countries including Italy, Spain, Sweden, Portugal, France, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Serbia, Greece, South Korea, Romania and the Netherlands. All the references to the social media, the pandemic, teenager problems (e.g. the school bullying, date rape drugs), felt really relevant. Scattered throughout the story was chapters that were written from the perspectives of various other characters including Connor, Emily and my favourite character Harriet who was Connor's highly intelligent, younger sister. Despite the fact that she was only twelve, her investigative skills put the so called professionals to shame but would her prowess as a amateur detective result in her own life being placed in jeopardy?

Family tensions affecting both inner and extended family are stretched to the limit and it seems that those involved are keeping secrets of their own and being quite evasive about the events of that night. As you may expect, not everything is as it seems in this thriller set over a period of six days and the intriguing plot keeps you wondering as to what has actually happened and just as importantly, who was involved. I like the basic premise of the novel which is how far you would be prepared to go for your child. The characterisation especially of the teens is spot on as you witness their boundary testing, risk taking antics which go too far in this case. You feel for Andy and empathise with his panic though he can be annoying from time to time as he’s not exactly subtle! You feel as if you are on a rollercoaster with him as secrets, lies and numerous examples of toxicity emerge and like Andy, you can’t see the wood for the trees. The standout character is Harriet, Connors younger sister, who has more gumption, common sense and perspicacity than the rest of them put together! The impact of the missing teen is done very well with all the many fractures and tensions that leads up to it and beyond. Connor is allowed out to celebrate the ending of his exams. As parents do, they ask him to be home at a particular time. When Connor misses his curfew, it sets off a series of events that will change the lives of five families forever. In THE CURFEW Andy and Laura have their worst nightmare come to life when they allow their 16-year-old son Connor to go out with his friends to celebrate completing his exams and he won't come home by midnight like he promised. That night puts in motion a chain of devastating events that will change their lives andreveal many things about their son and his friends...I enjoyed this and appreciated that Logan doesn’t take us where we expect. And where an author would be tempted to go. Logan also touches on some topical issues around bullying, spiking drinks as well as the pros and cons of social media, but it has to be said that my favourite thing about this whole book was Harriet. What a delight! As a parent to a teenager, I could feel the fear and panic of the Andy and Laura, the parents at the centre of this story. It makes you ponder the question, how far would you go to protect your child? When their son, Connor breaks his curfew, it is only the start of his troubles. He is soon at the middle of the biggest story to hit this small community but claims his innocence. Andy is determined to clear his son's name, by any means. This is unlike any of Logan’s other books, but is equally as high standard as always. In fact, this is an author who gets better and better with every book. She just let the other kids get on with it. She had her own way of doing things, at school and at home.

Two weeks after it came out as an e-book, I discovered that my day job – by this point I was a deputy director in charge of the university’s communications team – was being made redundant as part of a restructure. That was when I decided to take the plunge into writing full-time, which I have been doing since summer 2017. It’s a job that I love. A thriller that goes to the very heart of what it means to be a family. I couldn't have loved it more ' Gillian McCallister , Sunday Times bestselling author of That Night As with most of these thriller books, you essentially are drip-fed information as you get closer and closer to the finale which then eventually presents us with a slight twist and the summary of the story, answering all of the questions you have satisfyingly. I loved the way Logan opens this book as we’re kept guessing as to the missing person for some time and the suspense is built early. And when we do get more information we’re still in the dark. The book unfolds from a few points of view – mainly Andy and his 12yr old daughter Harriet (Harry) in the present and some of the teenagers involved in later events, in the past.

Highly enjoyable. Not predictable. Very well researched. At turns, frightening, infuriating and endearing. Good understanding of teenage behaviour/emotions. Richard Armitage's narration is truly excellent - even his female and children's voices are really good. This fast paced thriller is narrated predominantly from the perspective of Dr Andy Boyd who finds his life plunged into a living nightmare after one of the friends of his sixteen year old son Connor mysteriously disappears. Connor, his cousin Zac and their friends Emily, Drew and Olivia had been hanging out in the woods near Connor's home one night but after they went their separate ways only four of the teenagers had returned to their respective homes. Andy is horrified when it becomes apparent that Connor is the prime suspect in Emily's disappearance and is determined to uncover the truth and clear his son's name. A task that was made more complicated by Connor's refusal to talk about what had happened that night and cooperate with the police investigation. What secrets was Connor harbouring? Was he keeping quite to protect his cousin Zac? Why had did Adam's brother Rob suddenly appear to be ghosting him? Who knew the truth behind Emily's disappearance and what had actually happened to her? Was Connor as innocent as Andy and his wife Laura believed him to be or had their judgement been clouded by parental loyalty?
