About this deal

The most dated elements of the book are probably a couple of the more dubious jokes, and what would now be a highly insensitive reference to the Fat Man's chauffeur's skin colour.

Gott and Himmel play a much more direct and openly sociopathic threat to Nick throughout the book but are eventually revealed to be working for Beatrice. Nick pushes a Beethoven piano out the upper-story window with Lauren's help onto the assassins' van, injuring them. He has won many major awards including the Bookseller Association/Nielsen Author of the Year Award, the Children’s Book of the Year Award at the British Book Awards, and the Red House Children’s Book Award. We take pride in offering a wide selection of used books, from classics to hidden gems, ensuring there is something for every literary palate. The Falcon's widow, Beatrice von Falkenberg, claims that she deserves the diamonds (she is really poor and has had to sell all her property except her mansion) and threatens Nick with an alligator to make him promise to give her the Maltesers.Vous pouvez résilier votre abonnement à tout moment avant la fin de votre période d'essai; dans ce cas, aucun montant ne vous sera facturé. The Fat Man, Herbert says, is the biggest criminal in England, involved in almost any crime there is – armed robbery, arson, theft and armed burglary are some of the things Herbert lists. The title is a spoof on the movie The Maltese Falcon and references the texts through many plot allusions. He is also the author of the highly acclaimed Diamond Brothers detective stories, as well as the bestselling The Power of Five books, which were inspired by a simple thought. Nick explains that he was meant to emigrate with his parents to Australia against his wishes in the novel's character introduction, but he managed to escape the airport when they weren't looking.

One thing I really loved about this book, and Anthony Horowitz's writing style, in general, is how nonchalant the characters are after someone dies. The promotional blurbs of the early 2004 editions of the Alex Rider novel Scorpia, and of an early edition of Three of Diamonds claimed that Horowitz was planning an Australian-based adventure for the Diamond Brothers, entitled The Radius of the Lost Shark (a play-on-words on the film title Raiders of the Lost Ark). The Falcon that Naples mentioned with his dying breath is the alias of the late Henry von Falkenberg, an English-German international criminal who had been living in La Paz, Bolivia, when the police last heard of him. Don’t miss this acclaimed stage version of Anthony Horowitz’s hilarious novel introducing the Diamond Brothers Detective Agency. Nick notices this, and wonders how she knew Tim's real name, since when she originally rang, she only mentioned "Tim", and at no point when Nick spoke to her did he reveal Tim's real name. The '80s: Although, it's kinda hard to tell that it is the '80s because there aren't any '80s cliches. This was a brilliant success on a car journey to France with 8 year old son, and daughters 20 and 18.
