About this deal

When using the Jangle Blanket, I kept thinking that it had to let me down at some point. It can’t possibly be cheap, comfortable, and warm, but it is. Just remember that it`s not a bivy, despite the built-in bug net. It`s definitely still just a sleeping bag that should be combined with some sort of shelter, like a tarp, whenever possible. I`ll be completely honest I`ve only taken it out a handful of times, but I plan to use it extensively this summer (and will update this review as I do). With it’s size and weight, the Snugpak Jungle Blanket occupies a sweet spot in between camping blankets and survival blankets. I`ve yet to use the Snugpak Jungle Bag for more than a couple days at a time, so I can`t personally speak on its antibacterial, antimicrobial, and odor-reducing properties.

Camouflaged The Jungle Bag is available in four subdued colors that blend in well with your surroundings, whether that`s forest or desert, for survival situations where stealth is required.I’ve already touched on warmth when wet, but staying warm when wet is really just an emergency situation (that hopefully you don’t have to experience). What’s more important is how the Jungle Blanket performs in normal day to day uses such as keeping you warm at night, around the campfire, while in the deer stand or other areas. I’ve found this true with nearly all fabrics. Many people like wool because it retains heat when wet also, but most all of these people have never been in a situation where they needed wool layers to keep them warm when wet. Wool will retain heat, but it’s much colder when wet due to the evaporation going on. Choosing the best survival sleeping bag all comes down to assessing your long-term survival needs, most notably the type of shelter you`ll construct and the expected weather conditions. What`s the Verdict?

I plan to use the bag extensively this summer. My goal is to try to use it for a month straight to better understand how it holds up to long-term use in warm weather. It’s hard to describe how many camping blankets feel. If they are waterproof, they tend to be rough and crinkly, almost like a rain poncho. Or if you have a wool camping blanket (I do love wool for camping), you know that while it is great for warmth and can still keep you warm when wet, wool isn’t comfortable, it’s scratchy.

Snugpak Jungle Blanket Review – In Conclusion

Another highlight are the antibacterial and antimicrobial treatments on both the inside and outside of the bag to reduce the need for laundering during long-term travel, even in hot weather. Snugpak has mastered the comfort factor with the Jungle Blanket while making it water resistant and warm. The Jungle Blanket has a soft comfortable feel that literally surprised everyone who’s had a chance to use it when I’ve taken it on camping trips.

There is only one issue I have with the Snugpak Jungle Blanket, and it’s actually pretty minor. I’m six foot one inches tall (73 inches), the blanket is 76″ x 64″. So far, I`ve used the Jungle Bag mostly in colder winter weather here in Washington State. Average nighttime temps on my outings have hovered around 50°F with a low of just below 45°F. I recommend looking at other options for day-to-day use, long-term expeditions, or semi-permanent survival, but this sleeping bag is a fantastic addition to your emergency kit.

The blanket may feel thin at first, but the Travelsoft insulation is highly efficient insulation and keeps you surprisingly warm when combined with the Micro Diamond Ripstop exterior shell which is wind and water-resistant. I sleep quite warm so I personally stayed warm enough using this sleeping bag with just long underwear, although I was far from toasty.
