About this deal

The controller uses the powerful 03+ video transmission technology for incredible signal range and quality. This is capable of sending a 1080p/60fps live feed from up to 12km [1] away with latency as low as 120 ms. Signal coverage is enhanced and a stable transmission signal is maintained thanks to the 2T4R high-gain antenna. My only gripe with these shorts is the ventilation, which is sound but not outstanding. The 15 to 35°C range is quite wide, but I found the shorts warm to ride in at around 23°C.

Selecting the right one for you - depending on its individual compatibility with your desired drone - is crucial, to ensure you make the most from each flight. The DJI RC Pro features a 5.5-inch touchscreen which provides brightness up to 1000 nits, showing clear details even under direct sunlight, making it an optimal tool for outdoor use. In addition, the Mavic 3 Pro Series also supports the Hasselblad Natural Colour Solution (HNCS), D-Log, D-Log M, HLG, and other color modes, which retain more image details and facilitate more efficient color grading in post-production. The Progetto X2 pad is one of my favourite bib short chamois pads and it didn’t disappoint here. It handles road vibrations well and it doesn’t shift out of place.Tested with a DJI Mavic 3 production model in a closed environment in favorable conditions and an unobstructed wireless signal. Actual results may vary depending on environment, usage, and firmware version. For instance, should a pilot flying the Mini 3 Pro opt for the DJI RC or the RC-N1? Should an Air 2S operator using the original Smart Controller upgrade to the next-generation smart controller, the RC Pro? Should pilots of the Mavic 3 go for the DJI RC, RC Pro or the RC-N1? What are the advantages of having a controller with a built-in screen, or is the RC-N1, which is used with a smart device, suitable? The DJI RC Pro also has Outdoor Mode, which automatically enhances the image display so that details are still clearly visible, even under direct sunlight. When compared to its predecessor, the performance of the CPU and GPU of DJI RC Pro is increased by 4 times and 7 times respectively, with boosted system performance and lower power consumption, offering longer use duration and a smoother control experience.

The controller introduces a livestreaming function, [4] where third-party apps can use the drone’s camera view for direct live streaming, instant sharing of short videos, and more. [4] The controller does feature a gimbal control dial (controlling the tilt of the gimbal) and has a USB-C port. But our focus in this particular blog is the DJI RC Pro, DJI RC, DJI RC-N1, and the DJI smart controller. DJI RC Pro vs DJI RC vs RC-N1 vs DJI Smart Controller - At A Glance Unlike dedicated smart controllers, mobile devices aren't necessarily optimised to work in ultra-bright conditions, often not being able to provide a constant high-brightness display and automatically decreasing brightness in an outdoor environment; Clearly the Pro version has all the bells and whistles that the DJI RC doesn’t necessarily have, but all those extras don’t come cheap. In short, expect the RC Pro to offer significantly better specs in these main categories: Released towards the end of 2021 alongside the Mavic 3, the DJI RC Pro is a next-generation smart controller.

The controller can support video played at up to 4K/120fps in H.264 and H.265 codes and has slots for a mini-HDMI, Type-C USB and a microSD card slot. There are also other DJI controllers out there, such as the RCs optimised for DJI's enterprise drone line-up: For instance, an iPhone 13 would add an extra 173 grams, while a Samsung Galaxy S20 would increase the controller's weight by 163 g. A tablet, with tablet holder, would add additional weight. And the DJI drone combos that it comes in tend to be cheaper than the combos featuring the respective smart controllers. The DJI RC-N1 Remote Controller is a standard DJI drone remote which comes in combos with drones such as the DJI Mini 2 SE, Mini 2, Air 2S, Mavic Air 2, Mavic 3, Mavic 3 Classic, Mini 3, and Mini 3 Pro.

Third party apps are supported by the system [3] to give you more options with editing and sharing. To further enhance your flight/recording experience, this new controller boasts a 5.5” 1080p High-Bright-Screen that reaches an average brightness of 1000 nits. Mavic 2 Pro: Adjust exposure compensation (in Programme Mode), aperture (in Aperture Priority and Manual Mode) or shutter (in Shutter Priority mode). The DJI Smart Controller has always been available to buy as an individual item. However, the device is now end of line, so is in scant supply.
