About this deal

Set up your name and you can enter Sing and Dance on this new sub-menu, which is exactly the same set up as the individual tracks, except you have to work your way through groupings of songs, unlocking new groups as you complete levels. There are plenty of game modes to try and a presentation that is friendly for karaoke novices, especially when there is no fail option to discourage people before they've even begun. The chances of this game being of much use at a large gathering are slim as the track listing just isn't diverse enough to entertain everybody. There is no hip-hop and the closest that you will get to rock is indie darlings Maroon 5 or Coldplay.

Then there is Expert mode where there are no lyrics or tonal markers; at this point you must truly sing the song by heart. Please note: Virtual goods are eligible for PayPal Credit with the exception of electronic gift cards and software downloads. Playing these modes and racking up points will enable you to unlock others (or you can spend your VoxPoints). There’s also very little to enjoy, nay nothing, if you don’t enjoy music that’s been made in the past eighteen months and, of course, you’ll get more out of the game if you invite your friends around for a go and make an evening of it with some drinks and perhaps some other party games. There's also Maroon 5, Sam Smith, John Legend, Bastille, George Ezra, Bruno Mars, and Leona Lewis, but if you're in the mood for testing how high your vocal cords can go, give Sia's Chandelier or Ariana Grande's Problem a go.You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice.

A narrow selection of songs that is restricted to just a couple of music types makes this game a choice for like-minded friends rather than a large gathering of different people. If you haven’t had experiences of such, usually drink-fuelled nights if you’re an adult, you have to match your actions with an avatar on the screen which acts as your mirror image, with little images of upcoming dance moves scrolling across the screen to prepare you for your next move.

Thankfully in duet it does split up the vocalists between the two singers, even if it doesn’t tell you what the split is before you start playing which is a little irritating. The amount of game modes is as varied as the song list: in addition to the Classic and Duet modes, you've got plenty of other variations that are fun to play. Having said that the tone deaf would struggle, the game is a little forgiving when it comes to exact tuning. You won't be finding noughties or nineties hits in here, though – most of the songs were released in 2013 or later, save for James Blunt's You're Beautiful, which came out a grand 11 years ago.
