About this deal

Katie and her brother go out with their Grandma one day, she asks them to sit down by the Lion on Trafalgar Square and wait for her and so the fun begins! These are just some of the fascinating details that Blue Badge Tourist Guide Katie Wignall reveals in this absorbing guide to the secrets of London hidden in plain sight.

At Trafalgar Square they meet a talking stone lion, and he takes them on a wonderful tour of the city taking in such sights as The Tower of London, Buckingham Palace and the London Eye! This one is introducing the city of London and I think it would work well for both children familiar with London as well as those who have never been. We also use them to help detect unauthorized access or activity that violate our terms of service, as well as to analyze site traffic and performance for our own site improvement efforts.

Wonderful … magical … the foiled cover and magical illustrations of London in all her festive glory make this book the perfect Christmas gift’ – Parents in Touch. The book takes you on a journey from the moment Katie and Jack are woken on Christmas Eve by sneezing Father Christmas. There isn't anything about the new buildings and developments for the Olympics, but as 2012 is the Queen's Jubilee it works well for any little ones who are interested in the Queen and where she lives. This is a reread - i read this to my daughter many times, then to her class and two other classes when talking about London and all things British.

My only criticism would be that London looks a lot cleaner in this story than how I remember it when I lived there! This little book is extra special because my daughter bought it for me when she and her best friend went to London and Wales. You might like to look at Katie and the Waterlily Pond by James Mayhew and If you'd like to extend Katie's trip to London to Christmas, we can recommend Katie's London Christmas. When Grandma gets tired they stop a while in Trafalgar Square, and whilst Grandma rests on a bench Katie and her brother find themselves going on a magical adventure with one of the Trafalgar Square lions! Together Katie and her brother Jack travel with one of the famous Trafalgar lions and take us on a journey to all these places.Slightly older readers might enjoy Me, the Queen and Christopher by Giles Andreae and Tony Ross There are also lots of other adventures involving Katie. I'd like to think that if I had visited London as a child, I would have read this book beforehand to get myself hyped up! Imagine that you are the Queen, looking out of the windows of Buckingham Palace and you see Katie, Jack and a lion walking past.

At Books2Door, we believe that reading is a fundamental skill that every child should have to help improve their vocabulary, grammar, and critical thinking skills. Does the book contain anything that teachers would wish to know about before recommending in class (strong language, sensitive topics etc.

As a storyteller he has devised and performed a series of sell-out concerts for children with the de Havilland Philharmonic Orchestra, and has participated in prom performances at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. This uses the same similar concept in most of James Mayhews books when Katie whilst with her grandma and brother visit a museum, Scotland etc. It can be used in so many ways in English including adjectives, speech and diary writing for example, and also as a cross-curricular resource in Geography (capital cities and landmarks) and Drama (freeze frames for example). For History you could link this book to the fire of London and discuss the main events and how the fire started.

This review is on behalf of my twin almost-three-year-old associates, whose cousin, now 12 , passed on four books that she thinks she has grown out of. He has also created designs and illustrations for the Kirov Mariinsky Opera of St Petersburg and in 1994 won the New York Times award for one of the ten best illustrated books on the year (The Boy and The Cloth of Dreams). I know most of the landmarks Katie visits, and the older granddaughter brought it home from her own visit. Katie and her brother are taken on a tour of the sights of London, they take in Trafalgar Square, The London Eye and Buckingham Palace in the company of their friend the Lion. It is not included in promotions available to our main range products, as stated in our terms of service.Take a journey through London's rich past with these 10 fully guided walking routes and discover a whole world of incredible history hiding about your eye-line, just waiting to be spotted.
