Brendan on the other hand has me looking for apartments in a small town known for fishing in the hopes that i may come across a 6 foot something, breaded, grumpy, buff as fuck dude that’ll fall hopelessly in love with me. The author of Hook, Line and Sinker delivers another irresistible maritime-inflected romcom as a Hollywood It Girl is forced to relocate to a Washington beach town - where she experiences sparks fly with a surly fisherman. She writhed underneath him, trying to find the bottom of the pleasure well, but until his mouth landed on hers, anchoring her, she didn't realize. I enjoyed reading about Nell's personal struggles but the part where the book turns into a mystery, I found a bit blah. I knew I was reading one of my new favorite books, and I will reread it for years to come, whenever I need a dose of small-town coziness and hard-bodied sea captains.Also, pet peeve of mine, but I hate in contemporary novels when the couple doesn’t use a condom the first time they have sex. But her romantic life fails a little bit: she never has a relationship lasts longer than three weeks. When her celebration started to exceed expectations and test the tolerance level of her stepfather, he decided to send Piper and her sister, Hannah, to a small Pacific Northwest beach town to run their late father’s dive bar.
She’s desperate for a man to possess and control her and provide for her and it’s all wildly offputting. There are a lot of twists in the story and from reading the other reviews, it seems a large part of how much you like this book will come down to how far in advance you figure them out. Meanwhile, Brendan had to sacrifice his boring routines and acted like that was on par to what Piper had to give up to be with him.The "It Happened One Summer Series" by Tessa Bailey is a delightful and heartwarming collection of two contemporary romance novels, "It Happened One Summer" and "Hook, Line, and Sinker. Also if I ever have to hear a pussy referred to as "her femininity" ever again it'll be far too fucking soon. No doubt about it, this was a delightful experience from beginning to end, with enough sizzle to leave a permanent sear on my heart.
loved the descriptions of the area as have holidayed in Cornwall many a time and could really imagine the coves/cafes etc she described. When Piper and her sister Hannah arrive in Westport, they run into sea captain Brendan Taggart, who thinks they won’t last a week outside LA. This is a lightweight summery story, about a woman who goes back to Cornwall for the summer to look after her aged Mum. They (Piper and Hannah) decide to reform this bar as an ode to their father, to rehash some memories that they’ve lost and to come to terms with their past. We can see a similar pattern of how too much indulgence in social media and party life can backfire and negatively affect your life through Piper’s character.Another thing is the sibling relationship between Piper and Hannah, it was definitely the highlight of the book. The backstory of why she is in Westport and all the supporting characters add so much heart to this whole thing. So what if Piper can't do math, and the idea of sleeping in a shabby apartment with bunk beds gives her hives.
