About this deal

This game is quite easy and quick to plat, thanks to a free roam feature at the end of the game and thanks to the absence of missable trophies. This unfinished quality carries through, where at times where the map feels open, but at other times it can feel more empty instead, failing to the illusion of the spaciousness it wanted to convey. As expected of a Dragon Ball game, there is a heavy emphasis on combat as you will encounter numerous enemies and scripted boss fights. In this game, you will play through almost all the battle of the epic Dragon Ball Z anime, starting from Radish untill Kid Bu, with cool animations, perfect soundtrack and some free roam to explore the world of the Z warriors.

You can also examine specific glowing spots marked on the map that provides a little factoid in relation to the series’ past lore.Fortunately, Kakarot’s combat is smartly designed so that you can always evade to cancel out of a combo and get the hell out of the way when you can see something dangerous is being obviously telegraphed. So many of the periphery activities available quickly become repetitive and simplistic, and it soon becomes a grind.

During a time I was pessimistic about my career prospects, I was for some reason inspired to properly sit down and watch the original Dragon Ball anime series: all 153 episodes. The graphics are very bright and colourful, and in some cutscenes properly stunning, so it does at least tick the box of being a very nice looking Dragon Ball game, certainly leagues ahead of the weirdly dim Xenoverse games, but still fails to match the FighterZ engine’s look and animation. Zooming around the environments and seeing the world up close is a blast, and it's great being able to interact with so many fun DBZ characters and see stories that usually get passed over for game adaptations. However, if this is a game aimed at diehard Dragon Ball fans, why is it covering story arcs that are 20-30 years old? The Nintendo Switch version of the game was announced in June 2021, and released on September 24, 2021. The DLC adds a new storyline set in Future Trunks' timeline seen in Dragon Ball Z: The History of Trunks as well as an extra saga featuring Babidi and Dabura, briefly covered in Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai - Another Road and the manga version of Dragon Ball Super. The aesthetics of the game is a highly subjective area, but I personally think the game’s color palette is too saturated and gaudy.

As a result, Kakarot is a wonderful way to revisit the story of Dragon Ball Z, whether you’re a fan or looking to jump in for the first time. It's the story and the bombastic fights where Kakarot really shines, so if you're approaching the game from these perspectives, you're in for a thrilling ride. Fishing is a whole other mechanic, but it is also one of the simplest fishing systems I have ever experienced in a game.
