About this deal

Patience is the most important asset we bring to this activity–the willingness to allow each step its own time and proper place. I believe in sobriety because it has enabled me to rejoin the human race; I was so tired of feeling lonely, ashamed and isolated. In addition to the daily passage, Daily Reflections has quotes from the Big Book and a reflection about that quote which is written by a member of the AA community.

What aspects of their reflection can you implement into your day, the 3 rd of September, to keep you motivated and focused? By reading Daily Reflections, you are continually immersing yourself in recovery, where your thoughts and actions throughout the day can remain focused on sobriety and overcoming the triggers and cravings that you may face.

In my life today, daily prayer and meditation, coupled with living the Twelve Steps, has brought about an inner peace and feeling of belonging which was missing when I was drinking. Post-traumatic growth begins with intentionally working to reframe your experience of addiction and remain focused on the reality while beginning to see hope in recovery and the positive aspects of your current circumstances. Groups have tried to expel members, but the banished have come back to sit in the meeting place, saying “This is life for us; you can’t keep us out. Instead, gently do one thing each day to demonstrate that you’re willing to move forward with your life.

You have nothing to loose, but make sure you give it 6 months of everything you've got and watch your life change. Step One, in which I admitted I was powerless over alcohol, that my life had become unmanageable, takes on more meaning for me—one day at a time—in the life-saving, life-giving Fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous. But that does not lessen our possible impact, for there are scores of people waiting for someone just like us to come along; people who will appreciate our compassion, our encouragement, who will need our unique talents. How often do we sit in AA meetings and hear the speaker declare, "But I haven't yet got the spiritual angle. Some of them we were able to talk about to similarly involved people, and some, we found, had to remain private.But it’s pretty uncomfortable living on a concrete slab, unprotected and exposed to the heat, cold, wind and rain. The most important thing now is to reveal the inner temple of the soul with right thinking and right activity. A. meetings, or perhaps I knew, deep down inside, that I couldn’t drink like others, but I was unwilling to admit it because the alternative terrified me.

It is a day-to-day journey, so each day will provide you with a new quote or excerpt to reflect on for that day. For as I come to know that “self” is part of god, that I am nothing except in His Being, there is no quarrel between self-reliance and God-reliance. Don’t let the heartbreaks of the past cause you to become cynical, close you off to life’s magic and promise.Belief has developed with my spiritual program, and I am able to face the daily pains and conflicts of life.

While focusing broadly on the Three Legacies of Recovery, Unity and Service, this volume offers experience, strength and hope on specific topics such as willingness, faith, making amends — themes that recovering alcoholics must address each day — and reminds us that we are never really alone in Alcoholics Anonymous. Today I am broad enough in my thinking to find God in anything that is positive and creative — from music to hugs in the park! While the entire program may seem overwhelming at first, breaking it into daily concepts and reflections will only make the journey easier. But they are all part of the chapter that will be this year in our life and will lead us forward in the story.While we have no crystal ball that tells us what luck and fortune the year will bring, we do have a program that gives us the power to make the best of this year, to grow in sobriety. The dean allowed me to withdraw from the class the day before the final exam on one condition–I had to enter a treatment center.
