Hello Guys and Gals … Looking into acquiring a new or like new tube fed Marlin Bolt Action 22lr …. I had a older one 30 or so years ago .. How do the newer ones stack up compared to the older ones? If if you guys could let me know about your experiences with these rifles it would be greatly appreciated

Well, nothing is like it used to be, especially guns. The new XT is available in a tube feed rifle, synthetic stock, blued or stainless, adjustable trigger, D/T”d for scope mounts. Overall a good shooter, if you want old workmanship better prowl the used gun racks, just be patient.

I may follow your advice … I have m old Winchester 67 single shot and my 22yr old Iver Johnson (Savage) semi-auto … I have been looking at the new Ruger American .. But I really like tube fed …. Even looked at a Henry Levergun …I just remember just how accurate that ole Marlin tube fed was … If I go semi it will be a Model 60 …
Buckeye, I found an old Marlin 81DL in a gun store about a month ago and got it. I reckon I”ve made a project gun out of it. Apparently these old Marlins are quite the ticket if you want a tubefed bolt gun. Check gunbroker and all the other auction sites often. You might want to check on all the Facebook gun trading pages from your area. There”s an 81DL on a 22 rimfire page on there right now for $200 I think it is. Good luck.
The funny thing is i have run across several glenfields bolt action tube fed. I do not really remember the model numbers. But the lgs did not have them with the marlins which made me laugh. The shop is in North Kansas City formerly dennys guns i do not know what they are called now. The other shop who had some i will never deal with again.

There was a Marlin 81G in the early 60s, before they stamped Glenfield first on the barrel. The G was the designation for Glenfields in that era. The later Glenfield marked models with proprietary numbers like 20 and 25 were box magazine only or single shot like the Model 10.

Mine says Marlin……Glenfield 81G. I was told it was made for export to Canada. It also says New Haven Conn on it. The “Marlin” lettering is about twice as big as the rest. I paid $100 for it at LGS. Plus tax. Great shooter.
