About this deal

It applies perfectly to MXR’s pedals; it’s a phaser and it phases, it’s a delay and it creates delay, it’s a compressor and it compresses etc… In an ever expanding world of freaky, tweakable, innovative pedals there’s something reassuring about the simplicity and functionality of MXR pedals.

This pedal can be powered by a Dunlop ECB003 9-volt adapter, or the DC Brick™, Iso-Brick™, and Mini Iso-Brick™ power supplies (not included). Adding tightness to big open chords doesn’t sound like it would work on paper, but in practice, it gives the chords a unique character.

So if you want to advance your sound quality, then this little red thing is for you - solid and characteristic!

I used specific settings for each kind of tone that can serve as a guideline, but it is best to work with the sensitivity with each tone you are using.

With the Dyna Comp Deluxe, you get the same great compression sound that’s been a gigging guitarist staple for years but with new features that let you really tailor your output to perfection.

So, with MXR having joined the new wave of ‘blend knob’ compressors, once I decided to revisit the squishy-squashy world of compression it was natural that I would start with the MXR Dyna Comp Deluxe. After the midrange test, I knew that I would really have to push this pedal if I wanted to feel a difference with a full-on distortion sound. Say what you will of the Dyna Comp, it certainly can't be accused of not having enough compression; I've never had the sensitivity up beyond 1/2 o'clock, which is plenty heavy compression. The new M-102 features an LED light, true-bypass technology, and the same output and sensitivity knobs that made the original so intuitive.

Spec'd from our own 1976 Dyna Comp Compressor, this pedal is built around the rare CA3080 "metal can" integrated circuit (IC), which yields quieter operation, greater transparency, and increased dynamic range. The Dyna Comp’s circuit also rolls off some of the high harmonics and bass, delivering a perceived midrange boost. Overdrive is literally what you get when a tube is pushed beyond its voltage limits causing a clip in the top of the waveforms resulting in a slight warm, fat and sometimes, sizzly tone.

It has new features that alleviate most of the problems associated with using compression in your chain, principally loss of playing dynamics. This no- nonsense pedal's distinct and timeless circuitry produces the dynamic control, percussive attack, and smooth rich sustain heard on countless Pop and Nashville hits. Made since the 1970s, the MXR Dyna Comp, which adds its own coloring to the tone, has become a frequently copied and widely used guitar effect, even a standard. The compressor is really acting more as a limiter to stop the unwanted spikes in volume that sometime jump out of an electrified guitar set-up and it has the added benefit of giving a whole lot more sustain. The point i'm trying to express is that the dynacomp "boosts" the overall tone and for it to boost the tone you need to have a tone. The Script Dyna Comp Compressor combines that old school sound with a couple upgrades for modern gigging convenience. I mostly use it for bluesy situations with my PRS and I really love how easy it is to achieve that chicken-picking sound with only a few buttons. Andertons Music Company is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, firm registration number 716155. I noticed a difference with the double stops at the beginning of clip sounding more cleaned up than it did without compression. The Clean control lets you add in your unaffected bass signal so that you can maintain low end integrity, while the Tone control adjusts the upper midrange to retain the tonal dynamics of your bass.
