About this deal

If you aren't a gamer or making digital art, your speed and accuracy will improve over time to the point where the trackball becomes second nature. Kensington Expert Trackball Mouse is an ergonomic mouse designed to minimise wrist and hand movement while enhancing productivity and capability. I have the Orbit with Scroll Ring which is excellent but I could use more flexibility with additional buttons.

It appears that Kensington in their wisdom wanted to have it moving in small steps so they introduced a magnet. SUMMARY: The Kensington Expert Mouse trackball is one of the trackballs that I used most in the past 15 years. Even more than with gaming mice, KensingtonWorks is essential to getting the most out of the Expert Mouse Wireless. You can set app-specific mappings for as many programs as you like, and upload those mapping files to either Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive for transfer from one device to another. I really can’t understand why anyone would use a normal mouse, while this Expert is available to make your computer experience so much better. It takes forever to load, and introduces a huge lag in button response speed, something like 1/4 of a second lag. I purchased it about 4 years ago to replace my Microsoft trackball (this was flat out the best mouse ever, sadly no longer made, and cost on the hundreds used). If you have an Apple Macintosh computer you could set up the top buttons to activate Mission Control, Launchpad or other Mac-related options, something I really like to use them for. Ergonomic mice can help with conditions like Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Repetitive Strain Injury and Arthritis. The materials feel good, although a bit cheaper than the nice materials of the Logitech Cordless Trackman trackball or the Kensington SlimBlade.

I have worn out about four Kensington Orbit Trackball with Scroll Ring’s – the switches give up too early. I’m currently testing this brand new model (introduced in January 2016) and will let you know how good it is.This enables highly accurate, detailed work and allows you to get where you want on the screen quickly, with less hand movement. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others.

You may have read or seen his tech and gaming coverage at IGN, Lifehacker, Gizmodo, Variety, Digital Trends, and, of course, PCMag. Though Kensington's software toolkit is less flashy than Logitech Options, the program that accompanies the finest Logitech productivity gear, KensingtonWorks adds a ton of functionality that allows you to personalize your trackball and reach the level of comfort you should expect from any kind of ergonomic device. For some people, depending on their desk and chair situation or personal preference, this allows for a better hand position. I did have trouble when one of the buttons got a little shaving of plastic caught under it, and in trying to extract it without disassembling it (four Philips screws in the base) so I didn’t void the warranty, I accidentally twisted the button.

The Kensington Expert Mouse comes with a soft wristrest that can be attached to the trackball device. Adjusting the cursor sensitivity so the cursor moves the amount you feel it should as you roll the ball is essential to the experience.

The large ball rolls smoothly and allows for fast movement across the screen with very small movements. Kensington actually publicly announced they would not support Win8 because (it was too hard to code for), until they had to cave into consumer pressure.
