I first read Stephenson’s dense, riveting tale of hacking, computer science and Sumerian mythology when I started working on video game magazine Edge in 1995. Tom's scrapbooks are always fascinating, full of photographs, notes and snippets of history that inspire his books, and this one is no different!

I'm never really sure what to expect from short stories, it doesn't give you much chance to get to know the characters or the world, it's a bit like reading on fast forward.
