About this deal

Klassman always has better or, at worse, the same performance as FF and WRO and the WRO module has been generally good, certainly better than FF, but does have the weed problem with particularly rushes/reeds germinating after about 3 weeks. Have a look at the SylvaGrow peat-free range, especially SylvaGrow With Added John Innes and their recently introduced John Innes Range http://www. I was told that the pH issue WRO struggled with some time back was due to a change in the supplier of the lime used to neutralise the inherent acidity of the Moorland gold substrate. Impressively, it matched the scores of the professional peat compost and had the highest germination rate of any peat-free compost’.

Some of the peat free mixes available seem to contain bark and recommend re-potting every 2/3 years. test on composts for sowing seeds, FertileFibre achieved high scores for two of their best selling products, 87% for FertileFibre Original Seed Compost and 83% for FertileFibre Original Multipurpose Compost. Have had a hit and miss spring with FF: I’ve had a few bags from about thjree different batches, and the first fine multipurpose was ok, but another batch was almost all fibre and no fertility… (and an odd smell too). I also think it might be possible that some of the companies producing ‘organic’ composts for the amateur market may now be able to certify their products as, for at least one the problem was that they were using food waste in an in-vessel composting system, which is no longer prohibited.is the UK’s not for profit consumer champion, responsible for rigorously testing, reviewing and recommending products. Re-sowed some cucurbits covering the trays to avoid them being over-watered and prevent sciarid coming in (using the same compost) and had better germination.

The FertileFibre Company is a friendly Herefordshire-based business driven by the philosophy to be smart, sensitive and sustainable. i imagine, as with most things organic, there is natural variation in the ingredients they use to make the compost. If you’re looking for organic, peat-free garden compost delivered throughout the UK, you’re in the right place. Also – there are issues with sciarid fly, but I know Klassmann are incorporating biologicals into their bags before dispatch. At this time Robert was a hop farmer in Worcestershire and was able to use a by-product of this process, known as “hop waste”, to grow his plants. Designed to give your soil and plants the essential nutrients they need, these products can improve your growing environment for a greater yield. FertileFibre is the leading brand for peat-free horticulture, making it the perfect growing medium for environmentally conscious gardeners and horticulturalists.

Is it something I should be concerned about, or is the high conductivity just a result of harmless tanins etc. Yet again we are having serious propagation problems with ‘organic quality’ organic seed and potting composts. I told my staff member about the rubbish that was being put on the market many years ago, that had a pH of 4, and how we got compensation from the company for our losses. Sorry to hear that you are experiencing similar problems to us with FF products though it is reassuring that it the problems with poor germination etc aren’t solely down to us.Secondly, any compost derived from composted waste is not a stable product and continues to breakdown, more importantly rot down. Thirdly, as some of you have already stated, the pH of the compost is very acidic, this is again will present a breeding ground for pathogenic bacteria etc to exist and cause crops to fail; the ideal pH is 6.
