The Bad Batch Attack Shuttle departs from the norm for larger LEGO Star Wars sets by consisting almost entirely of standard bricks and plates. The second has lime green and medium grey colouring, and includes two outrigger engines angulated next to the handlebars. LEGO Star Wars set designers have mastered the art of recreating the complex angles of rear engines, making the back end of the Bad Batch shuttle a lot prettier than its face. Two tiered 10mm black high-gloss display base connected by magnets, containing embedded studs to place the set onto. By comparing the characters on the show entering and exiting through that hatch, it’s clear that the LEGO version is only about 1/3 minifig-scale.
LEGO Star Wars packaging for builders of all ages is highly standardized, with a “hero shot” showing the minifigs and vehicles in action, with key play features highlighted on the back. Despite their relatively small size, the instruction booklet and sticker sheet come in their own wrapper. After traveling to Saleucami to meet with Cut Lawquane, Tech and Echo decided to get the ship intentionally impounded by Imperial forces as part of their plan to help Cut and his family escape the planet.I am not a huge fan of the way that the dorsal fin was tackled, and am curious to see how it might be interpreted in future versions.
These correspond precisely with the source material and the length of 14cm seems reasonably authentic too. I was surprised to find all of the key members of the team to appear in the same set, rather than spread out over several sets. In fact, you may notice that we did exactly that, and unfortunately didn’t realize until after we’d shot the pictures, though even positioned properly it’s still quite ugly. The angled sand blue tiles appear especially attractive and I appreciate the integration of dark bluish grey accents, replicating the worn exterior which appears consistently during both Star Wars: The Clone Wars and The Bad Batch. The stylish Omicron-class Attack Shuttle combines attractive shapes and this creation looks splendid, especially given the unique sand blue and black colour scheme.
