About this deal

I know it's only one side out of six, and not the biggest side at that, but it might make a teeny-tiny difference in drive temp. Argon script to configure the display and fan profile lets you link the fan to the CPU temperature and drive temperature. Despite the NAS-oriented features, Argon Ean doesn’t forget about the fact that a Raspberry Pi board sleeps inside. I've got a 120mm fan 'ere with a USB connector and a manual three-speed-and-off control switch: set to its lowest speed, which is pretty much silent despite being within arm's reach on my desk, and pointed at the heatsink-like rear of the case.

Now I'm not sure I should even go ahead with my plan to replace the Helios64 with the Eon - what's going to happen when summer hits and the office reaches 30°C? The ease at which we can add drives, the sheer lack of wires and the OLED display add a level of refinement to our DIY NAS build. For the software we followed Argon’s guidance and downloaded the latest Raspberry Pi OS, but we did deviate a little. For instance, if your HDD temp hits 35C, the fan will turn on at 30%, even if the CPU temp is running below 55C. You can use the other USB3 port to plug another external (preferably with independent power-supply) HDD Box and use it to backup the internal ones. If the case above - which I haven't looked into yet - is using an unmodified Raspberry Pi 4, as the title suggests, then it'll be connecting all four hard drives over a single USB 3.

Chances are your first try will be marred with how to add and expose volumes to containers, how to set internal ports for containers and more. We plugged in a Pimoroni mini black hat hack3r breakout board, and attached an Explorer HAT Pro, one of the best Raspberry Pi HATs. My EON is running as a NAS drive as well as a plex media server in it’s current setup and I have plans to test if it can expand to host a couple of security cameras as well. In my review of the enclosure, I discovered an internal USB port – which seems perfect for the next upgrade: boot from USB.If you have issues with fan settings, please enable the logging, restart the service and send me the log output after 10 minutes or so. I already have SATA to USB adapters for these drives in my possession, I just need to dig out the actual disk shield.
