King Of The Hill Church Hopping, Church Hopping

Premise: The Hill family arrives late to Arlen Methodist and discovers the pew they have been sitting in for twelve years is now occupied by another family. Failing to convince the new family to move and seeing that Reverand Stroup has no interest in reserving seats for them, they decide to start visiting other houses of worship. Eventually, the Hill family settles on the “Megachurch” run by ex-football star Reverend Nealey (voiced by Big Boi), for all its glamour and perks… but Hank soon finds the whole thing a little overwhelming…

As a pastor – I love this episode. Ive used it in church discussion several times to talk about things like worship preference, how to talk to disgruntled members, and what a church's identity in a community is. Always great discussion.

I know its the extreme. But i wonder your take on Lucky in the episode?

Yes its a joke taken to extreme point. We see in other episodes his church is very different when he dose go. And a part of his personal worship involves getting drunk. But the idea of someone being spiritual without church?

I ask cause with the shows POV we of course get the idea that its not the best.

Also, do you use other episodes? Like I always thought Bobby exploring and questioning his religion was interesting. Especially when Hank is more upset over it than the reverend.

But I think I also enjoyed a short teen titans plot in the comics were Superboy tries to learn if he, a creation of super science with a bad guy for one of his two dads who started attending a Methodist church with his grandparents, has a soul. So maybe its not something everyone else finds interesting.

Ugh…I'm sorry but I just can't stand Hank this episode. Acting so entitled as if he's owed that pew, the family did nothing wrong and had a right to sit there.

same, i don't mind hank when he's petty but that was just over the top in a not fun way.

Another! Yes Sir.

“Where are you and God going to be today?”

“Getting a fuel filter for my truck at Western Auto.”

One of my favorite episodes because I know people who have church hopped for such little reasons lol

As someone raised Catholic, I always laugh when Hank goes to Enrique's church (IIRC) and the whole stand up-sit down-kneel confuses him to the point he hits himself with the pew.

You have to be right with God to go to my church. It's hardcore.

I’m finally caught up to the sub!

Man, both Hank and Peggy were frustrating in this episode. At the end, they got the pew back because the Smith family heard about the perks of the mega church. Was it Hank that told them?
