Corinne Mitchell was arrested on the same day, April 14th, 2004, and also charged with perverting the course of justice. These charges were later spread all over the media, however the charges never materialised (like her son, Shane, the charges were later dropped). When giving evidence, it is common practice for most witnesses in a High Court trial to be warned about the risks and penalty for perjury. This was true for Corinne Mitchell as well. The Crown didn’t proceed with perjury charges because there were NO grounds to do so.

I do feel incredibly angry that Billy Middleton feels that he has the right to publish on the internet whatever he wants without fear of retribution. While Corinne Mitchell was on the stand the court was cleared for legal arguments and the charges of perverting the course of justice against Corinne Mitchell were dropped. But there was something different on the night of the 30th of June 2003. Different enough for her sister Janine, her boyfriend Stephen Kelly, and the head of the family, Alice Walker, to leave Mayfield and walk approximately two miles to meet Luke Mitchell to search for Jodi. Bill then left Alice Walker’s home to visit his brother and Andrina Bryson. A couple of days after Jodi was killed, Mark “Bill” Bryson was in the home of Judith Jones and Alan Ovens speaking about the murder and Luke Mitchell.

Reading his MOJ2010 speech just puts my blood pressure right up because there is hardly one single paragraph that contains the whole truth. Unfortunately there is very little that I can state as "fact" as at it would mean exposing people and information that at the moment has to remain confidential. I am, however, now in a position to comment on the following subject things that I was told as Billy took it upon himself to expose his ex-wife as the person to whom the sexual assault charges concerned. Up until the 16th of July , the police (Really Craig Dobbie, because he’s running this circus) were one hundred percent convinced that Luke Mitchell was the perpetrator. And the forensic results were going to prove it. To add insult to injury, the DNA on the ‘hoodie’ found on Lady Path which wasn’t tested, could have identified James Falconer much earlier, or if the police had asked who lived in the house when they interviewed Falconer’s brothers and mother, this matter could have been closed much earlier. Luke’s DNA was actually found on her bra and her DNA was found on Luke’s trousers, but in an agreement between the Crown and defence team, led by Donald Findlay QC, it was decided the issue of DNA wasn’t relevant as the pair were in an intimate relationship. The Crown weren’t going to say DNA made him the killer as it was expected his DNA would be on Jodi. DNA in this case wouldn’t prove innocence or guilt. Stephen Kelly and Janine Jones both corroborated Luke Mitchell’s story about Mia the dog reacting at the wall past the v in their initial statements to the police.I would have had only two dodgy bits of circumstantial evidence left from my original submission as possible evidence, he only needed to have refuted even just one more of them…and I was sunk without a bubble. Jodi was not sexually assaulted in any way. Mitchell’s defence team claimed DNA in the condom belonged to another man – James Falconer – but during an appeal hearing in 2008 Donald Findlay QC, who was Mitchell’s lawyer, told the judges he was dropping any further claims about James, who had already been ruled out of any involvement by detectives investigating the case The first thing I have to say about the search party is that Luke Mitchell was the only male connected to Jodi Jones who cared enough to go out in search of her. It has always puzzled me why no males in the Jones’ family went looking for a wee girl reported missing. I’m just surprised he didn’t PLANT evidence somewhere in a desperate attempt to help prove it was Luke.
