About this deal

She left Rhys, her friend (mate or not), injured in the freezing mud and went off to HIS cabin to spend a few days painting and recovering (she was the one in need of recovery….). Book 4: Just fluffy book about feyre and rhys and fam around Winter Solstice. Rebuilding Velaris. Not much plot. Short novella The characters the author created were so complex and human-like (well, fae-like, I don’t know), you can’t help but fall in love with them. There were no controlling male main characters you so often see in books dominating over the female main character and passed off as romantic. The males characters, while dominant, never ever tried to control the female characters or make decisions for them. It was one of the biggest selling points of this series for me. Also, the female characters were just as powerful, if not more, than the male characters.

Although I rate it as a series (excluding ACOSF) 3/5, I can say that it is the first series I consider reading again even if I did not rate it 5/5. Probably because of its potential, because despite it all I have become so attached to its universe and to so many of the characters, because I can see how good it could have been... Same goes for Nesta – Rhys opens the doors of his house to Nesta and Elain, provides for them and they all (the Inner Circle) treat them with respect, and not only she is not grateful but she is absolutely horrible. Yes, she is entitled to deal with her own issues as she sees fit but that does not justify her attitude towards those that have done nothing but help her and nobody is forcing her to stay with them, she should just leave. I would have dumped them to Hybern and let them manage on their own since they were so formidable and self-sufficient. Her trauma is heavily exaggerated and overexploited. I felt like watching videos of 'selfless acts of kindness' of people who shove their phones in the face of a homeless person while giving them food or money, so that everyone can see how magnanimous they are...

i began to have less interest in fayre. i understood how bad tamlin did her, but wasn't everyone in their own trauma? wasn't everyone also struggling to escape that phase of nightmares? She keeps acting like a 'bad a..', she keeps repeating to herself , over and over again, how amazing she is, that she is a survivor, that nobody is her master, and so on… although, she could not figure out such a simple riddle (I knew the answer before finishing the second line), although she only survived Amarantha's tasks with the help of Lucien and Rhys, both MEN/MALE; although she got 'her powers' from 7 lords, MALES; although she became High Lady of the Night Court because of Rhys, a MALE; although she survived returning from the Spring Court due to Lucien, Cassian and Azriel, MALES... The idea of this fantasy world is so amazing! We all know that Sarah is unbeatable in world-building. And she did it again. She made a lovely world.

Ok so I want to start off by saying this is a REALISTIC prediction and that I’m going off previous books not the bonus scene however that will be mentioned. Also the bonus scene is not in every single ACOSF book. No, you cannot compare trauma HOWEVER it seems that her few months with Tamlin and 3 months under the mountain transform her in some kind of saint, although you have the likes of Mor, Rysand, Azriel, Cassian, etc who have suffered for centuries! Also can we mention how throughout ACOSF there was no chemistry whatsoever between Az and Gwyn and it was only mentioned after Rhysand said no. Proving yet again that Az wanted Elain not Gwyn.It was very hard for me to rate this series – it's worth mentioning this review is only for the first 4 books in the series; I did not and I will not read ACOSF The characters were SO AMAZING! They all have different personalities and good and bad qualities. They did bad and good things and we got to know the main reason why they had done things in the past and their story. We get a glimpse of her true self after the Suriel spills the tea, when she (with Helion's power and the Suriel's knowledge) helps Rhys start healing but treats him like he was nothing, leaving him literally in the mud, although he had just been tortured, almost died, and was far from healing, because he kept 'things' from her.

Despite having a lot of potential, despite not being bored for one moment – annoyed and in danger of having being left with permanent eye damage due to the constant eye rolling, but not bored – it is heavily clichéd and there are elements that just 'dumb it down'. I would say this is a definite 5 star read. Maybe not one I would re-read but it took me on an amazing journey nonetheless. I will definitely be trying out other series by the author! ACOWAR - The battle was my favorite part of this book. I cried when she lost the Suriel, utterly shattered me. Obviously it was detrimental when she lost Rhys and Amren but honestly losing the Suriel sent me more into fits than anything. However, holy shit did I enjoy Nesta's character growth SO much in this story. Also, why is Tamlin *still* so obsessed with her?? I mean honestly! He was only interested in her because it would help break the curse if she were to say "I love you" so it's really hard for me to believe that he actually had/has this much feeling for her. Talk about toxic exes. I also need confirmation or something to come out of the Helion being Lucien's dad plot line in the future.I loved the relationships. The romance part was very well-written! Sarah wrote it in a lovely way, the characters really matched, and the way they finally found each other was excellent. i understood love couldn't be a good excuse to do bad things but once again, everyone was in the phase of truma.
