About this deal

It is encircled by a white plastic barrier, with 3 gray stone-look pedestals that support the portal and allow it to lie flat. Swap Force portals are compatible with Spyro's Adventure, Giants, Swap Force, SuperChargers, and Imaginators. The only exception here are the Traptanium Traps, which do not have bases of any sort. They are much smaller than a typical character figure, and all feature a hexagonal shaped "peg" or "protrusion" on one end, and are placed inside the designated slot of the Traptanium Portal during play rather than on the portal's main surface. PS3, PS4, Wii, Wii U and PC portals are all interchangeable with each other but they can't be used with Xbox or mobile. Skylanders: Trap Team for Nintendo 3DS and Skylanders Imaginators came with different portals depending on where they were sold.

In Swap Force, the newer portals are still a necessity as these were updated to being able to read more figures at once. With the original portals only being able to read up to 4 figures, which is not enough if one were to use two SWAP Force figures and one Magic Item at the same time. It is also implied that the Earth Portal Master can travel freely with their own portal at the end of Ring of Heroes with no ill effects.During the events of SuperChargers, Kaos used The Sky Eater to cut off the portal connection between Skylands and other worlds, including Earth, rendering the Portals useless. The Skylanders were able to bypass this disadvantage by using the Rift Engines within the SuperCharger vehicles to create rifts to transport them around Skylands and other worlds. The Sun Runner was also built to retrieve objects lost in The Portal Network. You can change almost any of your customization options for your Skylander at any time, with two major exceptions. Firstly, you obviously can't change your Skylander's element so that it's different from the Imaginite Creation Crystal element it's stored in. Secondly, and more troubling, you can't change your Skylander's combat class. Once you choose how your Skylander fights, it's permanent. It can look and sound any way you want, but it will only fight using that specific weapon type. You can't reset your Crystal, or at least not officially; some users have reported success using a Nintendo 3DS Skylanders game and a glitch to effectively wipe the Crystal, but it isn't officially supported. In Skylanders: Trap Team, a new portal dubbed the Traptanium Portal was created to include the Portal Villain Vault and a Trap slot for capturing Villains as well as use them in battle. The portal also has a built-in speaker where captured villains can talk through. This portal is very flat and has a blue ring acting as a railing.

The console SWAP Force Portal of Power has the symbol of each element. Also, if you look at the edge of the windows on the sides, you could see the symbols from the first portal. A newer, larger portal with a large silver Rift Engine was made for Skylanders: SuperChargers; it features additional space for both Vehicles and Skylanders. Unlike prior portals, this portal no longer has built-in lighting and the platform is very thin in height. Playing the Game In terms of gameplay, it's pretty basic Skylanders. It's a simple third-person platformer with basic brawling and shooting action depending on your Skylander's powers, with some light puzzle solving and plenty of hidden areas and items. If you haven't played a Skylanders game, it's mostly comparable to the LEGO games. It's fun, accessible, and kid-friendly. I made an air elemental Sentinel named Vapor Waif who fights with a bladed staff (double-ended trident) and a magic elemental Sorcerer named Dan Castmeme who tosses magical energy bolts from a distance. Vapor Waif's close combat brawling is more direct and active than Dan Castememe's magic, but the magic provides more ranged options. In Skylanders: Ring of Heroes, the portals are once again redesigned, having the size of the original Spyro's Adventure portals, but bear a more futuristic appearance, and are worn by the Portal Masters as a medallion/amulet.
