About this deal

Former Starfield dev says all decisions on Bethesda RPGs "run through" Todd Howard: "He would hate, hate, hate me for saying that"

Berem zato ker me zanima kakšno zgodbo je imel v načrtu Cameron - naj bi to bil scenarij ki je bil prvotno v načrtu za nadaljevanje, pa ga je potem opustil in nardil The way of water. During the development process of creating the four Avatar sequels, a lot of new ideas and stories were created and discussed. One such EPIC original story idea that didn’t make it into the sequels was James Cameron’s original story—“The High Ground.” Cameron shared what he had written with Dark Horse Comics and it is now beingadapted by award-winning author Sherri L. Smith ( The Toymaker’s Apprentice, Orleans), and illustrated by Brazilian artist Guilherme Balbi. Because Avatar: The High Ground is ridiculous. It’s over the top, and even implausible at times. Not impossible - it’s reworked from an original James Cameron script, or script idea - but definitely implausible. But that doesn’t make it bad. In a council meeting, Jake insists the Na'vi fight and tries to convince Yeyatley to agree, but Yeyatley instead insists the Na'vi offer peace instead. Akwey supports Jake's choice, though before the group can continue debating, it is noticed that Jake's children are gone, with the exception of Neteyam. Yeah. Na’vi in space. It sounds cool, but there’s a reason this idea was cut and reformed into the sequel we got with Avatar: The Way of Water. It really stretches your suspension of disbelief in a way that doesn’t mesh with James Cameron’s total immersion philosophy, something that has always been at the core of this franchise, even before it was a franchise. After years of peace, Jake Sully has settled down with Neytiri and raised a family, so for him, the stakes are even higher than when he first went to war against the corporate might of the RDA.

The illustration work is clean and beautifully drawn and colored. The illustrator has done an excellent job of giving us Pandora in all its hues, though a lot of the action takes place at night. The characters look like their movie counterparts and are easy to follow. And besides that, why did the Na'vi become so very human-like. Why, after 14 years being Na'vi does Jake act like he's in his first 2 months of being Na'vi. But that’s exactly why the graphic novel is the perfect medium to explore ideas like this. It’s perfect, low-stakes, over-the-top AU fun. In addition, the art was gorgeous, though it wasn’t always easy to tell the children apart; they didn’t resemble their film counterparts as closely as their parents did, but that was my only gripe. The landscapes, flora and fauna were all distinctly and recognisably Pandoran, and the dialogue was fine, though not as tight, natural, and imbued with character as James Cameron’s is. I’m also very confused with Kiri and her ikran. She was a child! Like Tuk’s age. Did Kiri have her ikran before Neteyam? I thought Neteyam has been the youngest to complete the Iknimaya rite in the whole story of their clan so far. It’s not like they take children to the rite. When Jake got Bob (his ikran), Tsu’tey also took two trainees probably a lot younger than Jake, but they were not children, probably teens, so why is Kiri so young? The successful but lonely daughter of a powerful New York theater icon falls for her childhood imaginary friend in this touching love story.Avatar: The Way of Water” opens in theaters this December, and Cameron has already shot an untitled third movie that is scheduled for 2024. Plus, Cameron is also hard at work on “Avatar 4” and “Avatar 5.” It’s been 13 years since James Cameron‘s “Avatar” first opened in theaters, but the wait for more Pandora-set content is finally over. And there’s going to be a lot of it over the next decade.

Sherri L. Smith is the award-winning author of YA novels LUCY THE GIANT, SPARROW, HOT SOUR SALTY SWEET, FLYGIRL and ORLEANS. In October 2015, she makes her middle grade debut with THE TOYMAKER’S APPRENTICE from G.P. Putnam and Sons for Penguin Random House. The three laws of Eywa… I never hear about it. I think it’s an interesting concept, but also maybe a discarded one. I think If it was important, sure James Cameron would have mentioned it if not in the first movie, in the second. Urrgggg! I know Na’vi anatomy can be difficult, but they are copying shots from the movie. I have seen the movie too many times that I recognize all of them! On top of it, it’s very difficult to tell who is who. I have seen fanart comics much better drawn than this. Sorry, I don’t want to disrespect the artists, but they put minimum effort into this. It has been almost a decade since the humans were forced to leave Pandora—but now they’re returning—with an armada of heavily-armed starships!Their shuttle must land somewhere, making the ocean the safest place. Water then begins to fill their room, leaving the family to flee outside. The group uses a beacon and Norm rescues them in a Samson. Brothers (2017) · Tsu'tey's Path (2019) · The Next Shadow (2021) · Adapt or Die (2022) · The High Ground (2022) · So'lek's Journey (2024) Volume 1 of “Avatar: The High Ground” is essentially a graphic-novel-length appetizer for the new “Avatar: The Way of Water” film, recapping what Jake Sully and his family have been up to between the events of the first and second film, while also setting the stage for the narrative that we see unfold in TWOW. Strangely, most of what’s included in Volume 1 is more or less recapped in the new film – honestly, there’s not a TON here that you won’t glean from just watching the new movie. However, with Volumes 2 and 3 promising to not only fill in more narrative gaps, but also – hopefully – serve as more self-contained and original stories in their own rights, it’s possible that Volume 1 is basically just the “ground-setter” of the “High Ground” graphic novel series: necessary to set up the main story, but not wholly exciting on its own terms.
