Using past papers to revise has many benefits. Go through past papers to get used to the structure of the papers. You can also use past papers to practice how to phrase your answers. You can use mark schemes to learn what the examiner is looking for 😉 All pupils at TMSstart their GCSE course at the beginning of Autumn term of Year 9. Over the course of two years, they will complete the curriculum.Pupils will cover either GCSE Combined Science: Trilogy (which is the same as the old Double Science) and Triple Science (GCSE Biology, GCSE Chemistry & GCSE Physics). Making summary notes is a good way to revise. Focus on making summary notes for one of the subject or topics you find hard to memorise. Take a break from your revision and do some physical exercises. It’s important to do activities that increase your heart rate so that your blood circulating faster. Each exam will be 105min, worth 100 marks and count towards 50% of the GCSE. These exams are longer than the combined award as they are assessing extra content. Students will be awarded grades using the 9-1 grading system for each subject. For example: Biology – 8, Chemistry – 7, Physics – 6.

Getting a good night sleep improves your ability to remember things. Make sure to at least rest for 8 hours the day before your exam. Plan your revision wisely and get enough sleep the day before. Triple scientist will cover the same topics as the Combined Scientist; however will cover some of the topics in more depth. Start by looking at topics you haven't learned for a while. You'll find all the topics for all your courses on Seneca. The best place to revise is different for everyone. Some people like to revise in cafes while others prefer quieter places. Think about what the best environment is to help you focus. The most important thing when you revise is not to get distracted too often. If your child is following the Triple Science route, they will cover the same topics however they will explore some of those topics in more depth. The subject content topics are listed further down this guide. The best time of day to revise is in the morning. After a good night’s sleep, your brain will be well-rested and ready to learn.
