Ovate-shaped tree leaves can be rounded, elongated, or taper to a point. Also, the margins of these leaves can be smooth, serrated, notched, or lobed. When trying to identify a tree by its leaves, you can also notice the venation patterns on the leaf as well as its color and size.
The Ficus elastica is a trendy houseplant with a wide range of colors and shapes. It features big, waxy leaves that can be focal to any indoor space. It thrives in bright, direct sun indoors, prefers moist, well-draining soil in the growing season, and is toxic to cats, dogs, and humans. Varieties like Rodgersia aesculifolia (zones 5-8) have 10-12 inch long leaflets. Rodgersia podophylla produces 12-16-inches-wide toothed leaves.
