About this deal

I love the fact that she has a potty mouth and is also very brazen and open about her reservations about her life as an MP. This book was not written for me, and I know this because the last line told me I'm kick-ass, as all women are. Taking in chapters on motherhood, starting work, equality, politics and trolling, and more, she speaks about her own experiences and then places them within the context of (mainly women’s) general experiences.

I have now picked up a second book by Jess to learn more about the political system, because with her writing style I may actually understand how government is actually supposed to work in this country! She is extremely honest in this and I’m sure pretty much any woman who reads it will nod along with her in sections. She speaks her mind (sometimes a little too much), but at heart, she seems to care about what she does, and genuinely wants to make a difference. The Engineering a Better World podcast series from The House magazine and the IET is back for series two! This is required reading for anyone interested in gender relations, who thinks the patriarchy is a thing and who wants to understand how it works, what they can do to combat it.

Huge swathes of women's experiences were not considered in Moran's book, because they weren't important to Moran personally. I LOVE the strength of her voice throughout - it really does make you think no, we shouldn't put up with this nonsense, and that's great. Perhaps this is particularly frustrating because I'm sure she considers herself an intersectional feminist, and this is the kind of thing one would hope an intersectional feminist would have thought about.I highly recommend this book to anyone who aspires to bring more equality to the world and make it a much nicer place to grow up and live in now and in the future. there were so many funny and wise things on each page that whittling them down into a review seemed impossible. For Phillips, it was Bilocca's working class accent and the accessibility of her message that posed a threat. This title now has a new cover and t here is a chance that you may receive the edition with the old cover instead of the cover displayed here. Jess Phillips, the Labour MP for Birmingham Yardley, tells us many times that she is gobby and that she has a loud voice.

the murder of Jo Cox, her experiences of trolling, as well as issues that affect many women such as weight, body image and the everyday sexism women may experience at work. While at times I disagreed with Jess on her views, at times felt the writing was a bit too forced into down to earth writing style, I can say that every person should read this book. I had my view of Phillips before I picked this up and was prepared to hear her story, but I haven't been converted. Here, she talks about politicians being human and her tendency to put her foot in her mouth, but it doesn’t always feel as guileless as that. Everywoman has all the laughs [of Lena Dunham and Caitlin Moran] with a backbone of real glinting anger . Being an MP has given Phillips a platform, and if this book inspires just one teenager to switch from partying to politics, it will have been well used. It is so heartening to have a politician address the matters that affect women and, ultimately, the whole of society and to do it with intelligence and humour.
