# How Many 3-Liter Balloons Could The 12-L Helium Tank Pressurized To 160 Atm Fill?

OpenStudy (brittanyrolfe):

How many 3-liter balloons could the 12-L helium tank pressurized to 160 atm fill? Keep in mind that an “exhausted” helium tank is not empty. In other words, once the gas inside the tank reaches atmospheric pressure, it will no longer be able to fill balloons.

Alright, so we take where we left off on part A. you found that:(V_2=1920L), So to calculate this, here”s an important phrase to note: “once the gas inside the tank reaches atmospheric pressure, it will no longer be able to fill balloons.”So at atmospheric pressure, remember, there is 12 L of unused helium remaining. Therefore, you subtract 12 from 1920, since this is the volume of uncompressed helium

When you subtract 12 from 1920, you get 1908 L of “usable helium. Then, you can divide this by three, since each balloon takes 3 L of Helium

And that should be your solution 🙂
