About this deal

There has been so much public debate about breasts recently, from Free the Nipple to No More Page 3, from breastfeeding selfies on Facebook to Rihanna on the red carpet. I love how you learn each woman's story through her breasts her development, her response to the culture around her, illness, her sexuality, her children. We gratefully accept the author's kind offer of a donation from the sale of each book, which will help us to continue our work to prevent breast cancer before it starts by reducing our routine exposure to the harmful chemicals in our every day products, food and environment. Laura and the creation of 'Womanhood' were the subject of a documentary for Channel 4, '100 Vaginas', which received 5 star reviews and has been broadcast around the world.

I have always been fascinated by the dichotomy between women’s personal lives and how they are depicted by the media; between how we feel about breasts privately and how they are presented for public consumption. The Green Transition Weekly analysis of the shift to a new economy from the New Statesman's Spotlight on Policy team. I love that the subjects' own words and stories are edited minimally, only for flow, and allowed to come through in each woman's voice. This book goes some way to answering some of those questions, and also highlights women's positive and negative impressions of themselves, attitudes of others, and the role breasts play in British culture - impressions that interestingly, often conflict with some of the other contributors.I decided to create Bare Reality because I have always been fascinated by the dichotomy between women’s personal lives and how they are depicted in the media; between how we feel about breasts privately and how they are presented for public consumption.

I also learnt more about the power of other woman's perceptions on women's decisions about how they might dress and behave, and a closer view on being in a relationship with a man, from a woman's point of view. I could wax lyrical about how I must like this book, but I will conclude by saying that this book is not just for women. By turning my lens on physical taboos, I catalyse a ground-breaking conversation into social taboos and offer a deeply personal perspective on our most private, painful and pleasurable stories.

It celebrates the diversity of women’s bodies, and refocuses us to the stories that our bodies can tell and the value they hold, rather than the various ways they can be judged. das Buch 'Bare Reality' ist ein wunderbares Werk aus fotografischer Sicht und vor allem von Inhalt her. It gave me insight into women's changing relationships with their own bodies, in particular - the transformative power of breastfeeding! I think the time has never been better to hear how women really feel about their breasts, and to see how they really look.

Culturally and personally, no body part inspires love and hate, fear and lust, worship and desecration in the same way. They talk about their boobs but really, they are just an extension of these wonderful, warm and funny individuals. We meet, young, old, deformed, trans and without a doubt 100 of the most beautiful women I have read about. These days we are all less bound by gender and traditional roles, but is there more confusion about what being a man means? For the first time, 100 brave and beautiful women reveal their bodies and stories on their own terms, talking about how they feel about pleasure, sex, pain, trauma, birth, motherhood, menstruation, menopause, gender, sexuality and simply being a woman. When I first saw Laura Dodsworth's project, Bare Reality - which shares 100 unretouched, anonymous pictures of real women's breasts - I was completely fascinated.
